I never took Amitriptyline but take Nortriptyline for Migraines. I have not had any side effects from it, which is surprising for me, because I am usually very sensitive to everything.

I also took Cymbalta for a while, but had terrible heart palpitations, among other things, so I had to stop it.

I take both Amitriptyline and Cymbalta. The Amitriptyline will make you sleepy. I haven't had any side effects from the Cymbalta. Been on it almost a year. I'm on the highest dose.

I take Cymbalta for my FM - it was prescribed by psych as rheumy didn't want to Rx it as I have Bipolar and she didn't want to mess around with psych meds with my bipolar.

Psych said Cymbalta would be fine, but I wasn't sleeping well and she put me on Geodon, which is an atypical antipsychotic (no I'm not psychotic in the least!). I don't find it to be helping at all, so I see psych in 2 weeks, and I'm thinking of asking for amitryptiline as I have peripheral neuropathy too, and that can help the neuropathy!!

We all respond differently. I have taken both meds but not at same time. I had severe reactions with the Cymbalta after they continued to up my dosage. It also caused me severe fatigue worse than the normal level from Fibro, but you may not. There are good/bad experiences. Just closely monitor yourself and journal any differences you note.

I'm taking amitriptylene 25mg, and it's really helping with sleep. It seems to work better if I take it about an hour before bedtime. Other than dry mouth, I haven't noticed any side effects.

From what I've read, and from my own experience, it's good to start one new thingn at a time, so you know if it's working or bothers you. Maybe you could try just one for a few weeks, then add the second?

I was on 60mgs of cymbalta and had to come off it...I had severe withdrawal symptoms even weaning off. It's a very difficult drug to come off of....I've been on about 8 different antidepressants over 6 years and never had much more than headaches when I weaned off them. With cymbalta I had severe dizziness, extreme moodswings, extreme anger ( not like me!!!),extremely high blood pressure for three months, extreme anxiety, nightmares,I didn't sleep for a week then had sleep problems after that. I'm finally feeling normal and I stopped it completely in November! So just something to consider when going on it. It did help my fibro symptoms bur it was horrid to come off of.

Hi! I started on Amitriptyline in January. I started on 25 mg and then moved to 50 mg. It really helps me sleeps. The only side effect I can tell you is that is makes me really hungry and I have gained about 10 pounds since starting the medication.

I was on amitriptyline for a while. While I know it helps some people, I did not see any improvement on it. I also put on almost 30 pounds while taking it, which I hear is pretty typical.

I take Cymbalta with wellbitrin. I started out on Cymbalta and my psychiatrist added the wellbitrin because they're supposed to work well together. I tried to take Lyrica for a few months, but was having suicidal thoughts. I went back on the Cymbalta and stayed there. I think it's starting to stop working, though. I'm seeing the doctor next month and thinking about asking to try Savella.

I'm hurting so bad today, I feel like my whole body is on fire. Plus my back is killing me. I have my four year old granddaughter all day, so I can't even go to bed.

I started taking amitryptiline almost 5 years ago soon after I was diagnosed. I had significant weight gain but had also stopped working at the same time. I am currently on 50mg and can't sleep without it. I am also taking 120mg of cymbalta, not sure if it helps the pain but helps alot with the depression.
