Hello Fibro Folks! I am interested in your opinion regarding my current situation. I will attempt to be brief. It would seem that my variety of current health problems cannot all be fibro related. There is likely more than one thing going on, "something" with my brain and "something" with my leg. Hubby and I have lived in our current town 10 years this fall. He has one buddy from college that he hangs out with. I have a couple of former co-workers that I speak with, but no one close. We live rurally and even the neighbors we have don't really speak to us. Our church went through some reorganization about two years ago, and we were told we didn't attend enough or donate the "minimum tier" of $500 a month to retain membership, so we lack that social contact as well. The speciaists that I am seeing don't really care if I can drive or work, they deal with people who can't walk. I have only been on my current job since December. They are holding my 6 month eval for now. Being able to drive to meetings and such is part of my job requirement. They have also told me that if I need extensive time off due to surgery or treatment, they cannot hold the job. We have less than 20 employees, so they are not required to meeet those guidlelines. So, we have no support system here, I am facing what seems to be a health crisis that has already impacted my ability to drive, and I will likely be let go from my job. Our closests relatives are 60 miles away, and they are his elderly parents who don't drive except to the grocery store. They have already said they won't help, from what I have been told by my husband. (My husband said, "They wouldn't help if I were dying, it's not just you.")
I feel we should get together some contingency plans so that if these doctors find something bad we aren't scrambling to figure out what to do. My spouse and my Mother feel like I am being ridiculous. I feel as though we should prepare for short term illness (well, it's already been several months so. . .), long term illness and potential long term disability. Our house is not well suited for someone with long term mobility problems, as it is multi-level with many stairs. Hubby has been three years at his current job. which is typically when you move up or out in his profession. I think we should look at a 60 mile radius from his parents, in a location that would put us in the same area as the bulk of my family (about 100 members strong, all in contact). This would give me more chance to have social contact even if I never saw anyone but family. This would also be helpful in the event that I am not able to retain mobility. I feel like if we look at housing, jobs for him etc and it all comes to nothing, then we just wasted time. I would rather do that than have to scramble in the event there is a huge problem. What do you all think?

My cat is going on trial for crimes against skink-anity. SIX in six weeks. Three this last week alone. The crack is maybe 1/4 inche wide. Maybe. Skink skitters past, her paw shoots out, her claw hooks in, she yanks, and somehow, having defied physics... WHAM. Skink-o-rama.Now, don't get me wrong, it's nice that she's a pesticidal maniac, but OMG. Skinks do no harm. They don't come inside. WTF.So,...

I'm alive, I'm sleeping like a rock, and for some reason I wanted cherry juice so that seems to be helping. (??? Weirdo that I am.)***Infamous therapies over history:1. The Attic. The madwoman in the attic is a motif in literature going waaaaaay back: the nutty female relative is locked in the attic. (See: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for a grotesquely racist version of it, and Charlotte Perkins...

And the Church, well, I do not think I will be going back there. Not only do I not agree with their financial approach, going through 5 Reverend s in 2 years points to some problems.
