Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
You're not alone. I was always athletic and even managed to stay fit with FM most of the time since the dx, but the juggling to find "What Works" is so highly individual and also tends to vary depending on other issues in the background (my epilepsy complicates *everything*).... so if you have questions or want to read up on treatments (there's a separate subgroup, but we mostly hang out on the main board), browse around, ask away.
And feel free to drop in on check-in to see how othres are, let us know ho you are, etc., it's a FM board tradition. :-)
I have found great support on this board since my official dx in 2011. Mostly I have enjoyed really being heard and literally feeling the pain like we do yours. It is so hard some days, to try and get up to fight another day. But, you have us here to support you and cheer you on. So, come on!
Take good care, JP
Venting just part of nature, don't ever apologize for it. I think of venting like I do volcanoes or earthquakes, heck even little geysers do it. When enough pressure builds up, you just gotta let it go.
I can't say I was on the athletic side (I was when I was younger, always playing several sports and I carried them on into bar leagues too). But I was the kind of person who always worked 2-3 jobs. Always on the go, before fibro set in.
For me, I guess the best analogy I have for fibro is this. It's like the weather. And as it's a part of the world we live in, we have to plan for it.
There are great days (sunny, perfect temp, etc) and there are stormy days. Sometimes the skies open up and dump a load of junk on your doorstep and other days you just scrape by w/out any impact.
But like the weather and always planning your life with it, we have to do the same thing with Fibro. We have to plan for good days and bad days. We are always planning, but in reality it's coping.
I'm glad you found the group. I came here back in 2008 and it's felt like home to me. And I've done my fair share of venting and learning along the way. I can definitely say this, w/out this group, I wouldn't be where I am at today.
BTW, bricks, though they seem strong, all they are is just a bunch of dirt put together. They are not as strong as one thinks. And if you think of that "venting" you needed to do earlier? Well blowing off steam is a bricks worst enemy. Through pressure and water, it can erode any brick out there. So, if you think about it, by coming here to vent, you're going to break down that wall so you don't keep crashing against it!
Wonderbaby said it so well. The analogies about the weather, coping and also how to break down a brick wall were amazing and right on target. Thank you wonderbaby.
You might want to look at the symptoms in the website. I started taking aspirin on my own which has been helping with headaches, brain fog and neuropathic pain.
The PE might be clue to what is causing your other problems.
