Hope your garden does well for you.
Though I gave up lawn mowing! Last year, I mumbled a lot of excuses to a neighbor who asked about the lawn (allergies, health issues, we're thinking of hiring someone) and this year, she sent another neighbor by first thing this spring to volunteer to mow the 1/4 acre lawn for a pretty reasonable fee. Since mowing the lawn on my own is enough to leave me totally incapacitated for a week, I accepted, and now I can spend my limited outdoor-energy on the things I want to do (like taking care of my "bird garden," which is designed to encourage birds to come to the feeders near my window, so I can appreciate them when I need to be inside).
I got out yesterday to weed. I have to do it about once every month or two. I'm fine once I get out there. It gives me quiet time. I've grown to feel much better while I'm doing it. I feel productive I guess.
The next day is a different story. Sometimes so stiff (arthritis) it's hard to move around much, and other times when I feel ok.
Sprawling, I hope you enjoy watching your garden grow!!
It is all worth whatever pain it brings because one small flower can bring so much joy.
If everything grows it'll look more like a jungle than a garden. I even had to stick some of the plants in planters since I ran out of room. For $50 or so it should produce more than that in food. Plus the fact it gives me pleasure to see the grow.
Now what's the odds I won't get the payback pain? As I lay here writing the pain is creeping forward. I'm not sure about most of you, but the more things you do in a day the worse you sleep at night.
All in all I'm so happy! I've got a garden! I've got a garden!
You got me itching to put some tomatoes and peppers in planters. I can't believe it's going to be June by the end of the week.
