I have been on it but was not able to take it. The side effects I suffered where some of the worst I ever had from taking a prescription drug.

As the commercial says, "Lyrica is not for everyone" - well it certainly was not for me.

Hi Militarybrat, I've been on Lyrica for about 2 months and so far it's working well for me. I wake up feeling better than I have before. I take it twice a day, morning and night. When I take it at night, it does make me sleepy. I think it's because I'm not doing anything. But when I take it in the morning I'm okay, probably because I keep moving. I do find myself yawning and feeling a little tired here and there, but not enough to make me stop taking it. My 11-yr-old granddaughter (who I'm raising) even says she likes me on Lyrica because it makes me "more bubbly".

I have been taking Lyrica for a little more than a year...and I also take a dose in the morning and at night. I can't say that it makes me any more sleepy than normal (although I have CFS so who knows). I did have headaches for awhile when I first started but they went away after a couple of days. I have dry mouth and have gain some weight (but I'm on quite a few meds that have those side effects too).

I was only on it for three weeks. It made me, one by one, sleepy, stupid, and angry. Each week one of those was added, while the others did not abate.

Sleepy - well let's just say I don't know if I had any other side effects the first week, because I was never awake long enough to notice.

Stupid - I had to stop driving because I couldn't decide whether the changing color of a traffic light was something I was supposed to care about.

Angry - the day I woke up and yelled at my husband for no reason was the last day I took it. I was just free-floating, no reason, all day long angry.

Not sure whether that was too soon to see any benefit, but in any case I didn't. Just side effects.

Lyrica has definitely help me but now I have to come off of it because within 4 months I have gained 20lbs. I don't know what the doctor is going to switch me to but I sure hope it is just as good.

Can't/wouldn't try it due to the common side effect of significant weight gain. I have severe OA and can't tolerate extra weight.

Your other options are Cymbalta and Savella. It works well for some people and the rest not so much. It takes time and a lot of tinkering to find the right medications and dosage for each patient. Take care.

I remember trying it years ago but couldn't continue because of the side effects. We all react differently to medications but it never hurts to see how it's affected others. Hugs GB

Didn't work for me, but made me gain weight, about 10 pounds after being on it for 2 months.....

I hope you have great results with Lyrica, and find a lot of relief from it!

I tried it, and like others here, had a hard time with it due to side effects, so had to stop taking it. But, as other others here have shared, it can also help people! I hope you find yourself in that category!

Lyrica also happens to be related to gabapentin, and some people find that while they may not be able to tolerate one, they have an easier time with the other. (That happens to be the case with me.) So, if Lyrica doesn't end up being a perfect match for you, don't necessarily rule out giving gabapentin a try.

It's taken care of almost all of my foot pain, (neuropathy) terrible pain that nothing else helped. I am sleepier, and I'm FAT again. After 40 extra lbs., after a few years. Will not give it up. Cannot take the foot pain!

I am in the same boat as you with wanting to know how it works for others. I just took my first dose and am waiting to see how it affects me.

I hope it works for you, and you don't have bad side affects on it.

I tried it a few years ago, and like other it made me very sick, the side affects were crazy for me. But I am overly medication sensitive.

I have been taking it for about 1 1/2 months, I have noticed not different in my symptoms. I am a lot on the max. dosage of gabapentin. Sick of nothing working of me. Sorry to be a negative nancy,hope you find something that helps you.

Like others, I tried Lyrica, but had side effects so changed to Cymbalta. Cymbalta has helped tremendously, but have other issues which are making it not as effective now. Good luck - hope it works for you!
