OMG! Those brain zaps were no joke. It felt like someone scraping my skull with a cold needle very fast... its sort of like that. Its so hard to explain it was just something I have never felt before. I also got this weird thing when I closed my eyes it felt like a helicopter pounding in my head. Others have gone through this too with 'Cymbalta Withdrawal'. When you google it , you will get ALOT of scary stories.
I would advise you to take your time for sure! Go LONGER than what the doctors say. They always say it will go away soon and this and that but nooooo . Take it slow!

hohhh hohh huhhhh .......constipation isn't even the right WORD for me to use for what it did to me!! it put my whole colon to sleep! i have been posting about this (on Ds) and my progress over the last few weeks. i have been on cymbalta a lil over 6 months now and at 1st it was ONLY CONSTIPATION. but when it got to the point i couldn't feel when i had to go, no urge, or nothing -only pain, something was really wrong. i've been totally off it for 6 days now and it has been ABSOLUTE HELL!!!!!
my doc sent me lower dosages to take and s-l-o-w-l-y go down in dosage over time. i finally threw the towel in 6 days ago (after getting down to 20mg /day) and said enough is enough and quit taking it. it had put my body thru enough hell already....
BUT what i've experienced over the last 6 days has been by far the worst physical TORMENT in my life EVER! no exaggeration here.
i called my doc yesterday and she said i gotta take it again and skip every other day for a week, and then 2 days for a week and then 3 days and so on. but after what it's put me, thru, honestly i'd rather put up with these withdrawals then put another one of those pills in my mouth! i've grown to hate it!
if you are going to have to get off this nasty stuff, be very very careful. trying to get off it can probably be one of the most challenging things you may ever have to do in your life. why? cuz your body may feel like it's got an early sentence to hell. this shit is no joke!
i begged my doc yesterday to please send me some valium, cuz so far that's the only thing has been able to bring the pounding and zapping down enough that i was able to sit up and talk. yes, this shit turned me into a vegetable. i couldn't even cry from the torment cuz crying would hurt even more.
i've been reading up that it takes 6-8 weeks for the tormenting withdrawals to go away. some people may have been very lucky here, and haven't had to experience that (thank God), so i only pray to God that i too may be one of those. only time will tell.
but for now, i feel like i've been beat up by a pack of gorillas, got my skull cracked open by a bulldozer and have electric cords shocking my brain and eye balls, which my vision quivers and shakes every time i feel a ZAP~.
i pray to God you don't have to go thru this. hopefully you can wean off with little to no side effects. best of luck and keep us posted. if you have any questions, i'll be more than happy to help.
that's literally what it feels like. i don't know if you've ever been electrocuted in your life, BUT it's a VERY VERY uncomfortable feeling. that's pretty much why some people have ended up in the hospital from getting off this drug.
Thank you all so much for your input. As I said, I'm on cymbalta every other day. So far, I feel like someone hit me with a truck. Also I keep crying all the time. I've never heard anyone give this symtom before. Everyone has been so kind in giving so much information.. Please accept my sincere appreciation.
