Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
It sounds like pre-menopause.
All that being said though, check on diet changes. Eliminate some foods, like spicey, garlicy, or fatty foods. Then introduce them back one at a time over several months. See if your body is not processing food the way it used to.
I would mention it to my doc also, if I were you. It may be something simple that you can adjust to.
Good luck
Thanks for putting this up as I am glad i am not out there alone. Wow!! But I really don't want you to have to be going through this or anyone else for that matter. :)
Also, were on any meds when you were in the service that could account for it that you've resumed taking?? I've never heard of body odor being a side-effect of a med, but then I didn't think Lamictal would lock my jaw either and it did so you never know the crazy side-effects meds can produce.
Also B.O. is sometimes associated with specific health problems including liver dysfunction, diabetes, digestive problems (parasites, etc) and yeast infections and these conditions require professional attention and advice.
i'll try the white vinegar in my laundry and powder after i shower. i've been putting deodorant on afterwards even at night.
hayley, i was not on any meds back in the service... at least not at the time of the bo.
D, i have been eliminating spices to see if this is the cause. never thought to try cutting out garlic, too. guess that's next. so far, it hasn't made that much of a difference, but i'll do what you say and make everytthing bland as hell, just to see what happens. you could be right.
i do see my nutritionist tomorrow (monday), i'll let him know. and i also need to make a follow up with me GI doctor, although, somehow i don't think he'll tell me much about body odor and my GI tract being linked. i can already see the look on his face.
endocronologist? maybe i'm better trying that.
i did have a yeast infection a few weeks ago and i NEVER get those, so my gynie gave me a pill to make it go away.
i could have yeast in more places than one?
all this sounds so complicated
thanks for all your tips. i can't wait to get to the bottom of this. i will try to find out the test results tomorrow while i'm at the doc's office.
i'll give you guys an update
Good luck!
I'd definitely check with the doc. Yeast can live in all sorts of places, and there's also metabolic issues can cause BO. Good luck!
Sweetie, I'm so sorry you have to endure this! I love the suggestions already given to you. The only other one I can think of is maybe it's a genetical component in your body causing this.
Anyone in your family history that has/had this same problem?
I'll admit, I was recently shopping and I was in the deodorant isle at Target, and I was amazed by how it took almost an entire isle for mens and womens deodorant! But the one the struck me as funny was the "New Secret Clinical Strength-WATERPROOF" deodorant!
Now, I instantly had vision of commericals, displaying a gorgeous woman coming out of the pool, drying off and men flocking to her.
But your problem really put that concept of waterproof deodorant into perspective for me.
Have you ever tried those crystal like deodorants? I don't know if I would 'trust' a product that is nothing more than a rock....but then again I didn't think I would trust rubbing my hands against the stainless steel sink to get the 'onion' smell off of my hands either.
(BTW, they do make stainless steel bars -soap shaped stainless steel) Maybe that might help?
Either way, I'm thinking of you Sweetie and hope that the docs figure something out soon. I already know how isolated you feel with the other crap Fibro hands you.
Mine is just my body type, not meds or hormones.
Leo, i don't eat red meat. stopped eating beef years ago. i might have some lamb like once / twice a year. that's it.
Mitchum unscented for men? i look at it
so i went to the nutritionist and got so caught up on the subject of my weight loss, loss of appetite, heart burn, and reaction to yogurt, that i forgot to mention the body odor. i'll have to call him and talk to him about it on the phone.
i still have to make the GI doc appt. AND all the other doc appts.
oh man... i feel overwhelmed.
i still have to see my rheumatologist about seeing if they can order me a memory foam mattress and cervical pillow (so i don't have to pay for it) since i can't sleep well with all this pain.
bah! fibro sucks
Since getting sick, I still eat lots of fresh garlic and hot chili's but I've changed all my oils. Now I only use olive, coconut, walnut, canola, hemp, flaxseed, safflower, peanut or sunflower oils; once in awhile, butter. Never corn oil or anything partially hydrogenated (trans fats.) I very rarely eat out, not counting sushi, and I use mostly foods with a lower glycemic index. And very little red meat.
I've had the sweats a few times but didn't get the b.o.; I just soaked the sheets. I'm 32, so like you, I don't think I'm pre-menopausal.
Vinegar is great in the laundry, especially if you don't like using bleach. It disinfects your laundry and helps keep the gunk from building up on your washing machine..
