Vicodin.Sorry you feel like crap.I hate any kind of head pain.I have no idea how to help :( I just keep poppin tylenol and ibuprofen together and hoping for the best when I need to.

Hun you can safely up the topamax trust me on that one my scrawney dying ass is taking a lot more than you and I am down to weighing under 90 lbs

Have you ever considered that part of your headache might be due to myofascial pain?? I had a horrific headache in the lower back of my head that felt like my skull had been smashed into a million pieces that lasted for about 8 years with very few days when I wasn't in severe pain. Believe it or not, it was caused by a trigger point in the sterocleidomastoid muscle in the neck. Once I learned about myofascial pain and located the trigger point, I had it worked out within a half hour. And it hasn't been a problem since.

This article also mentions that a lot of meds like ADs cause the muscles to tighten up causing head pain.

The frikkin headaches are a nightmare..i am the same most days, my head just bangs!!!!!...i take oxcontin when its like this..it just knock this sad ass out...i hate this crap..i feel for you...i put a warm pack on the back of my head sometimes too...i swear i feel like im gunner stroke out!...

I think mine are myofascial, like segulley said....have you tried heat and massage?

Head pain is awful! Along with everyone else's suggestions, have you tried drinking something with caffiene? Caffeine dialates the blood vessels in the head. Also, where is your headache - forehead, base of the skull, sinus area...? That can also help us to provide other suggestions.

well everyone, i called the nurse advice line last night and he said to get to the ER since i have a history of bad head aches and migraines. and on the 4th day since none of my meds were working, i have to break the cycle somehow or i would continue to worsen, especially since i'm in a fibro flare.

so i did just that. i HATE the er, but i did it. now my headache is gone (YAY!), but my body aches are still here.... sigh. guess i can't solve em all. but at least i don't have the splitting head pain so i'm happy about THAT!

Raven, i'll know next time i get a bad head ache to up the topamax dosage and give that a shot.

Sherry, caffeine is like my mortal enemy.... i get sick from that stuff and every time i try it when i DO have a head ache, i get a lot worse!

segully, i thought about the possiblity of myofascial pain before.... i didn't know that it could feel like your head head was throbbing or pounding, though?

I'm so sorry you're hurting, especially having to take care of your mom, too. I hope it goes away soon.
