Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
I have alot of face pain but no numbness.
I would check any meds your on to see if this could be a side effect or an allergic reaction to something. I would check with your doctor and maybe get a referal to a neurologist to have it checked out.
Don't put everything down to fibro. We can still get other health problems and they may have better treatments.
Welcome to the Group again
Hugs & Prayers,
Mary
I also raise my shoulders, push them back then drop them, Helps relax the muscles in the upper area.
Just try to remain calm the pain will pass and move somewhere else sometime. I even been to the dentist a few times thinking something was wrong with my teeth but there wasnt, Just myofascial pain which is part of fibro
Hot baths help me.
So numbness in the face is a common occurance in Fibromyalgia. My druggist told me that there is a form of Epstein-Barr Virus in Africa that actually causes one side of the patient's face to rot away, leaving their teeth exposed on one side in a nightmarish way.
Epstein-Barr Virus nearly killed me. But the severe Fibro that followed was as bad.
I know that is far too much information, but interesting nonetheless.
I always recommend that newbies subscribe to a non-profit organization called Fibromyalgia Network. It is supported by fibromyalgics and their families only. They produce a wonderful quarterly magazine that cites all the latest scientific studies and breakthroughs from around the world. No advertising so the Drug Companies and the AMA can't get their hands on it and skew the information their way. It only costs $28 a year and is well worth the price. You can also order what they call a "Research Back Pak" which contains the research from the past 6 back-issues for an additional $17. Then you'll be up to date on the disease.
You can request a list of fibro doctors in your area, too. You can reach them at 800-853-2929. Very accommodating people.
This is the best way to educate yourself on the disease besides being on Daily Strength. One other very important point I would like to make is that it is up to us as fibromyagics to learn everything we can and then educate our doctors, because they know next to nothing about the disease. I xerox copies of the articles in Fibromyalgia Network that apply to me and take them to my doctor's appointments. Knowledge is power and it is no more evident than when you use it in the doctor's office this way. I find that doctors are either too busy or too lazy to research the disease on their own, but only too eager to take it from my hand. So it is our responsibility to educate our own doctors. A sad state of affairs to say the least, but terribly necessary if we are to receive adequate treatment of our disease.
I wish you the best and will be happy to help you any way I can, so feel welcome to contact me if I can be of further service.

Hot baths can be great. Put some epsom salts in there too. Epsom salts are rich in magnesium which is very beneficial for the muscles. I take a magnesium potassium supplement too. I get some relief by massaging the jaw area in circular motions.
If you need help with sleep (like most of us do) you might want to try the supplement 5-HTP. It helps the body produce serotonin in which most of us are deficient. Don't take this with an SSRI (antidepressant) as those block the brain's reuptake of serotonin.
You'll find lots of info and support here. Hugs
The jaw pain and numbness may be TMJ. A lot of us with FM have it.
