i lost my aunt last year i was very close to her. my middle son before she died was going on and on about her will,i have mental illness and i cracked under stress and told him my aunt had left him and his 2 brothers 3000 each to to get him to shut up at that time she had left them that amount. then shortly before she had a big stroke she wanted to change her will her partner of 22 years had walked out on her . i was doing the running about for her arranging the solicitor etc. the day before her stroke i had gone to fetch her a copy of her amended will from the solicitor. i had to read it through for her as she was partially sighted she had cut my sons out. she said they never bothered to visit her. ok i was upset but not alot i could say . i told my son because i didnt want him thinking i had lied about them being in her will. then the next day my aunt had a big stroke she couldnt talk and sadly she died 3 weeks later but my son kept on at me saying i had persuaded her to take them out her will . i gave my sons 1000 each as he was on about contesting her will. even the day after her funeral he was ringing me asking for money. my brother and i was left her house and a fair amount of money. but it went to probate so any money was not given out until 6 months after. i was devastated losing my aunt she was my mums identical twin and i was worried about my mum . it was a devastating time. we found lots of unused heart meds in her house which her partner when he was with her was suppose to had been giving her so there was a police investigation but they said there wasn't enough evidence. then a post mortuem . just as my mum and me are trying to come to terms with losing my aunt, her sister. my middle son tries to contest the will but our solictor wrote back to his solictor and said it was too late the end of probate date had passed. but then our solictor then recieves another letter from his saying they had a 12 year period though to prove fraud but carefullt they didnt name names. i was devastated as i know full well who is being accused me ,he has accused his own mother. as he had been saying to me i had persuaded my aunt to cut them out. my mum is very upset about it to. i can not believe he tried contesting my aunts will over 3000 i had given him and his brothers 1000 each i could not give them anymore its complicated but in uk if u claim benefit then have to come off if u inherit once that money has gone you have to prove you didnt waste it or gift large amounts.
i was so upset at what my son did i have now cut him out of my will. a few times he has questioned me over my mum and dads will saying me and my brother will ger half of everything i told him all the grandkids are in it he said "yeah but you will give me extra wont you" i have told him many times not to talk about wills i find it upsetting. he is 27 years old. have i done the right thing cutting him out of my will?

Which explains the mysterious fevers and my extra fatigue. I'm so glad I pushed for answers.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

I wouldn't speak to him either.
What a selfish, horrible human being he sounds like. Sorry:(
This isn't his money... This was your aunts' money to spend in any fashion she wanted... She could burn it if she wanted to... He did nothing to earn it... Enjoy it... I'm so sorry you've been so badly hug sweetpea...xo
I sincerely hope that you spend that money on yourself. It was given to you. Apparently he cares more for the money than he does his family. That's sad. Don't feel guilty. Being a parent doesn't mean we have to be pushovers and let our children run over us. Sometimes they need real life leseons. If he's able-bodied, there's no reason he can't earn his own money.
My friend/neighbor, M, passed away last year. Her family always took from her. They stole from her. She adopted her granddaughter. That granddaughter was made power of attorney and, when M got sick, this girl did everything she could to keep her from getting better. M was placed in hospice, and this girl told them that M didn't want to food or fluids. They let her starve to death.
It was one of the most horrible things I'd ever seen. M's kids were going through her house, her bank account, and didn't visit her. It took her weeks to die. Every time I step out of my door, I see her house and it brings tears to my eyes. She was the sweetest soul. She did not deserve to die that way. I learned a lesson; not to place my health in the hands of anyone who could profit from it. M trusted that girl and that girl couldn't care less about the woman who loved her and raised her.
I hope you don't allow him to bully you into giving away something that doesn't belong to him. It's yours. Don't feel guilty for having it, or for him not having it. Money isn't everything. If he can't see that, the money won't make him any richer.
Bless you.
Just my opinion, but I've made it really clear to my kids (and in a living will) that foods/ fluids are NOT to be pushed. If I'm not eating...fine. If I'm not drinking...fine.
Her granddaughter is exactly who I'd want to be my POA. (Actually I made my ex husband my medical POA and have talked to my kids about it for years.)
She'd had surgery and the doctor wanted to put a feeding tube in her stomach. M wanted that, and said as much, as long as she had a chance at getting better. D fought three doctor's opinions and said M told her differently but M's Pastor had spoken to M. He couldn't do anything though because he wasn't family. D moved M to hospice and asked them to start giving her pain meds and stop allowing people to visit. They let us continue seeing her. It was a real mess though.
Right before M got sick, I'd ran a credit report for M like I did every year and we found out D was stealing from M and using her credit illegally. M's Pastor was about to help her change her will. We think D found out. She would have lived if she had gotten that feeding tube. Only her family could fight D and they didn't care enough to try. She wanted to live but D didn't give her the chance.
This is just my choice. I've seen people make other ones and live for years. It's doable, but it's NOT my choice. EVER.
I wrote my living will at age 45. Some might think early...but not really. Then everyone and their dog will know my choices and no one will think that someone is trying to starve me.
It used to scare the heck out of me that someone would scare or manipulate my kids into giving me one. And once given...it's so so so hard to get patient wishes respected.
Yeah, there's always the "chance" of getting better. Just ask how many doctors and nurses would want it for themselves. Nope. Not how I want to live, and not how I want to die.

Love hospice. LOVE them.
I hope things work out between you and your son. I'm sure you love him, but money can't buy love so don't try to buy his affections. It won't make him respect you or love you any more than he already does. True love (and respect) doesn't require such things.
He needs to realize that the money belongs to you and not him. He's not entitled to it either. If he receives any of it, blessed is he! It is a gift.
Hugs to you.
I can't understand why he would feel entitled to any of your aunts money, the way I see it whoever they leave it to as long as they are of sound mind is who it should go to. I think it is a legacy and in most cases should go down the line to the next generation etc.
In saying that he has shown his true colours to put you through all of this added stress, nobody needs that and you would not expect your own child to do this to you.
So fair enough, if you feel better writing a letter to add to the will for him then do it, explain what his actions have done to you. He might learn something from this one day.
Take care.
