Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.

My family has a lot of issues. I don't want to see them for a week this summer. It's not a pleasant experience, I ran away to college and then grad school, moving half-way across the country and then across the country respectively. We are very disfunctional, and I have personally made a lot of progress with my therapist, but they are not seeking help at all. They are still the same people (if not worse) than when I was 18.
To give you an example of how bad it was/is, I used to pray to God for my dad to catch my mother cheating so then he would file for divorse. Because since she didn't have a job, I knew that he would get full custody and then we wouldn't have to see her anymore.

Does anyone follow her? She's really got some good tips.

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo
your therapist about it.
Your dad is making 'his' decisions for 'his' reasons
Marriage is a lot of work and compromise and we often can bring our baggage into it
I get that they are your family and I imagine you love them.... If you aren't up to going for a week maybe 3-4 days.....
I would accept that they're imperfect people however you can still care about them warts and all
It's nice you're working on breaking out of a toxic cycle and working with a therapist
Big hug.... I hope if you're decision is to go that you have a nice time.......xo
it's not that you don't care about your family or being selfish its actually your self-care, your mental health
if you feel like it's not the right time then it probably isn't
now will you have to see them one day..... yes because unfortunately, they are your family
but the may thing you want to focus on right now is your self-care.
Thank you for helping me. I do feel obligated to see them. I wish I could just tell my dad that if he wants to see me, that he needs to come out to see me. But, I know how my mother will react if I say that, and then that would be hell form my dad.
Firm boundaries in place etc.... These are hard to do.... I haven't seen my brother for years and I'm sad that that happened but it stopped the drama and the angst
It's a big consideration
A week is quite a while if you know you'll be miserable .... If you want to see them I would but for lesser amount of time even if it's quite a way from where you are
