Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.

Being the peace maker can make you sick physically and mentally. It can leave you so drained that you have no strength to deal with your own personal issues when they come up.
I find it hard for me to put these ideas into action even though i understand them well, Because of drug addiction and mental illness in my family we have a lot of issues and family blow ups i find myself getting in the middle trying to keep everything from getting worse but then i get lashed out on or just end up with a headache and the situation still not being resolved (waist of energy and time)
I do not like confrontation at all so my main action is to step in. At what point do you step back and just allow what is going to happen happen? At what point do you realize that there is not much you can do when it comes to the choices that people make for their own lives or the negativity they allow or just live with.
It is a hard thing to do but at what point do you stop and take care of yourself? At some point you have to save your self and take care of your own mental state.
You can help no one if you become run down yourself and it becomes a waist of energy to continue going in the same circle of negativity with people. Isn't it true that one day you have to wake up and say what about me? I am just as important how is this effecting me?

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

Since you're talking about adults, I'm with SunCloud - just back off and let them hash things out. Don't take sides, or let anyone know if you do have a side just keep that to yourself. Write it in a journal if you need to, but don't get yourself involved or allow them to "play" you. People like that tend to want people on their side as a way to validate themselves, don't allow them to manipulate you in that way. Just stay neutral. If it's too difficult to stay neutral, try to distance yourself until things blow over.
If they insist on trying to pull you into the drama, just tell them you love them but you're really busy and can't talk. Then go get busy with something. :)
All I can say is I know what you are saying, I'm so sincere with you. I'm glad that I found your post because it feels good to see that I am not the only one suffering with similar things. Things like family blow-ups, trying to be a peace maker.
