Hello,
I am the oldest child and only daughter. For many many years I have made sure my brothers knew it was my parents Anniversary, Birthday, Mother's Day, Father's day...all that. I would also make sure there was a nice gift and my brother's would have to pay me back...they didn't pay me back hardly ever.
But this year...they are both married with children of their own. Is it wrong of me not to call and remind them? The only time they remember is when I call them to see what they want to do about the event coming up.
In a few weeks is our parents 35th Wedding anniversary. I thought about throwing a party for them, but I decided that I will wait for the 40th. I do plan on getting them a nice gift between $200-$500 and I'm fine with doing that on my own....do you think I'm wrong not calling and reminding my brothers and letting them in on my gift?
I don't have a strong relationship with my brothers, not because I don't want to, but because they have different priorities in life then I do so we don't see eye to eye.

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo

It's not your job to notify them. At one point did they ASK you to notify them?
I would just call them up to say hello and maybe ask out of a place of genuine curiosity... "So, baby brother, would you remember any or all gift giving occasions if I didn't tell you" ... I have been feeling it is my job to notify you and that is stressing Me out. In the future can I forgo giving you the heads up and rely on you to remember yourself?? Or not, because maybe they don't feel the need to buy your parents a gift.
It doesn't have to be an ugly conversation. We are always free to voice concerns we have and it really helps to keep with the I statements.. Don't present it like.. "You never remember" tell them that YOU are the neurotic one ( it helps to be self depreciating) and worry about silly things.... then it won't be like you are attacking their character.
I guess what I'm saying is... keep it about YOU, because it really IS about you.
They probably don't consider themselves to be "babies" they probably just consider you to be Really Really on top of things!
good luck
Can I adopt you?
