This is nothing more than a vent of my frustration!
I live with four teenaged boys and a husband, and all their male friends. Even the two cats are male. The testosterone is so thick in my house the female dog and I sometimes feel we need to scratch our nuts.
That being said
I want to run away!!!!
-- to the land where people see the dishwasher is clean and they unload it, so there are not so many dirty ones to avoid later.
-- to the place where dirty socks do not just appear out of no where, and no one knows how his socks ended up there.
-- to go somewhere people want to spend time with me, so they help me with my chores instead of always adding to my to do list.
--to a place where people do what needs to be done without being told.
-- to a friend's house who remembers my birthday and buys me presents once in a while, or throws me a party.
-- to the land of mom is more than a machine.
I love my guys, don't get me wrong, but I'm tired. I want help without asking, or just each cleaning after his own. I work over 60 hours a week. When I get home, I make dinner. I clean up dinner. I cut hair or run to or from practices or jobs. On my days off, I clean and do laundry. On my lunch breaks, I make appointments.
I realize this is the plight of many a mother, not just mothers of boys. But, I can't take any more today. I don't even want to go home. I just want to sit in my office and pout like a child. But, as it nears closer to my time to head home, I know I have not grown the balls yet to let them sweat it out even a couple hours. Instead I will go home, business as usual, until the first perceived offense (ETA of first offense 15 minutes from entering door). At this time I will snap, yell, send everyone into hiding, and feel guilty--in this order.

Life has been really hard this past year. I'm really feeling down and alone. I can't talk to my family about my depression and anxiety their not very understanding about it. It's really hitting me since my mother passed a few months ago, plus stress from having to eventually move. Also having my niece coming around who suffers bipolar and refuses to take medication for it. Its been...

I am happy to report that no one was injured this weekend in my home. My weekend began with a match of wills, and ended with five handsome males cleaning. Hopefully, this will last. If not, they will a great many overdue life lessons: how to pack your own lunch, how to do your own laundry, and how to do many many priceless tasks.
I want so badly for them to be kids. They work for everything they want, and they are the best kids I know (and I am not being biased--maybe a little biased--but ultimately they really are great kids). I do not want them to be burdened with certain things yet. They all know how to do everything our house requires, but soon enough they will be burdened with the mundane, daily activities of life we all come to know. For now, I only require them to clean up after themselves, and find a need and fill it a few days a week.
