so i am gonna put this one on here to resolve between my wife and myself, i am a little too strict, but working on it, my wife is a little too lenient and not changing.
My oldest daughter has aspergers but is high functioning, she is 11, now she does all kinds of things a certain way, and there are times when she constantly has to be on the go, moving sleeping over, going somewhere the urge to buy things you name it. now today is saturday, she technically has on the go not home since wednesday, today its overcast hot and off and on raining. so when she came home from her friends, i said stay home, play with your sister, or find something to do, she played on her ipod for about an hour and it started i am bored i have to go, i am calling someone, so on and so forth, now comes the issue
i send you back to the first paragraph, my wife lets her go wherever whenever, to get her out of her hair, is my reasoning why she does, it, hers is she is a kid. now, i was on vacation all week, starting the few times she was home mostly when her counselor was here i asked her if she had dirty clothes upstairs in her room the answer NO, so today i go up there after my wife let both my daughters go to a friend, her room has clothes everywhere. i dont know whats clean or dirty, so my wife who is now in the bedroom i go say sure let her go, i have been asking for days for dirty clothes, her room is destroyed, lets let her go for another week without doing things she wants,
i am strict i wont deny it there are times i punish too stern but it does not matter. my wife works midnights, she has for 7 years almost, my kids both, dont care they dont try and be quiet my oldest makes noise all the time, i tell my wife, you yell at me, shouldnt they know by now, you sleep during the day, to be quiet, but no, and all she does is say leave them alone they ar e kids,
look i understand they are kids ,but kids should listen too, i did

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
1. ROOMS/Cleaning...Chores in general: They must be done BEFORE going out with friends (now, bend when an opportunity comes up that's out of their control - like a last minute invite that's obviously important because it's their BFF) but for the most part - chores/must do's first...then play. For rooms, pick a day a week THEY clean for real, besides day to day make your bed, clothes into hamper...one day a week DUST, VACUUM, etc. your room...don't care WHEN, but it's to be done on that day. :)
2. IPOD/IPAD/PC/TV/Video Games - 1 hour a day during the summer before dinner. That's what we've had to do...now, we aren't super strict about it, but we told the boys, they really should get out more...:) We stick more to the no IPOD at dinner, no IPOD at the store, or during 'family fun' times like evening walk, watching a movie, etc.
3. If she lies to you about doing chores/picking up clothes and you find them, well, bag them all up in a black garbage bag and put them in the garage...remind her...your house, your rules. Please clean up your room next time before you go to a friends house.
All of these things you should discuss with your wife and get on the same page - remember, they are growing up and you do have to let them see friends and allow them room to develop trust and responsibility. Good luck! I'm sorry you're going thru this preteen bumpy road time right now. :)
