Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.
Many times mental illness is a yoke to bear within family relationships. Not all members are filled with insight needed to sustain or endure in a positive, productive way, or even skilled to encourage healing for their loved one that suffers. Because of this, what I see with you is precisely no encouragement or support for the good that you do for your son. I see that all that matters about your son is resting in the arms of his mother, which is a great place and so secure. However, the other family relationships do matter for your strength and good feelings for what you attempt to do for him. Somehow, things must change, because I really dont want you to feel alone or upset as you are making wise choices while dealing with the conditions of your son's future and living style, for the good.
Have you tried writing each one a letter detailing how you feel about their actions and how important their support will mean to your son and for you? This can best be done in writing because at shocking times of behavior the right words are simply not there. And it is amazing that no other person in the family understands the good that you are attempting to do for your son. I completely understand how you feel, but no, you are not a fault.
I pray your burden will be light, and may you be blessed as a mother. I hope that your sons move will be a healthy and successful adventure for him. I am happy for him! He is rising above this lifetime challenge with this dark issue of health at hand.
As for the other family members I know it is terribly hard and sad if they do not wish to just give him a call to say goodbye but you can't force the issue on them either. The best you can do for now anyway is to try and explain in more detail about his mental health issues and depression and let them know you really need their support and so does your son. Perhaps by having some good communication with your husband and other family members it will be a good way to clear the air and find out why they are acting this way and what actions can be taken to help everyone in the family.
As for your youngest son at least for now maybe the best thing to do is contact him yourself and not depend on anyone else. At least this way you know he will get the messages and it will help you in knowing how he is doing with the new job and how he is handling everything.
I know that texting and using facebook is the most popular these days for communicating but I still like the old fashioned ways of communicating especially when it is important and to me that means talking to a person on the phone or face to face. Anyway maybe you can arrange some time with each family member for a visit or a phone call to have a talk concerning your son and like i said above see what their feelings are and why they feel the way they do about your youngest son and take it from there.
I hope this was a bit of help to you and that you can get some support and that your son is doing well and getting better. Wishing you the very best:)
Your husband's way of thinking is wrong. The children sense that too. You need to stay strong and keep doing what you are doing. That is keeping your family together. I admire that. One day they will see that you are doing this out of love for them. Good luck
