When my son was little & I'd punish him, he'd thank me! Kids crave guidance, I believe. Don't let it get you down--after all, you got a clean toilet out of the deal! (And you could have had the tub, too!)

But who cleaned up the mess that she made in the first place? If she made the mess why not just let her clean up after herself? That is only fair to expect a child to learn to pick up after themselves. When my kids were young, they were expected to clean up after themselves. If they didn't do it I just had to constantly stay on top of it and eventually they got it.....mom isn't going to let us slide on this one ever. They finally get it, its just a long process before they learn that you aren't going to pick up the mess.
