Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.

My mother passed away in 2018. It wasn't a sudden death, she died of cancer. It was hard to watch her everyday and we all tried to take care of her. As she took her last breath, I held her hand. I'm so blessed I got to have the time to tell her everything I needed to tell her and my heart is at peace. I miss her everyday.
If you care to as I continue with this, You can read part 1 here: https://www.dailystrength.org/group/family-issues/discussion/how-my-family-problems-started-part-1?page=1
Part 2:
As I mention in part 1, my younger sister had moved in with my mother. She now has 2 kids (6 & 5). A month later, I got a call from my sister asking me if it was okay for her to give my mothers bedset (which was new, she only used it for 2months), to my brother's sister in law. I told her that I wasn't sure about that, and not to be giving anything away until we can go over the will first. Then she said that she had already bought her kids a bunkbed and was going to put them in my mothers room. I told her to please not move anything as I want to come over and help her putting moms things away. It was a way for me to mourn her, which I actually haven't as of yet. After a few weeks, I got will and I asked them to come (I didn't know what the will said), being the oldest I wanted to read it while all of us are present. The will named me executor of her estate & that the house would be equally divided among the 3 of us. (My sister, brother & me).
During that meeting, I discussed that I didnt want to sell the house & wanted with their help fix it up so that in the future it could be a property we could rent out. Then I mention that whoever lives it, during the time as we fix it they will have to pay rent. My sister & her husband didn't like that at all. Their argument was, why if she owns 1/3 of it that she even has to pay rent at all. I tried to explain that even though the house has been payed for it still has taxes, insurance, & in need of repairs. My brother didn't care to chime in or say anything about the issue. So, I said look I will take care of the will & give you time to think about what you want to do. I said moving is also an option if you don't like my proposition. A few days later I got a call from my father, letting me know how things are going to work. He said "Your sister took care of your mom the most, so she is going to live in that house rent free until she decided what she wants to do." I said "I said, she lived with mom that is why she was able to be there the most, we all did our part to be there for mom. No one gets a free ride, & she is an adult capable of taking care of her living expenses just like everyone else." He go upset, then called me back again and said "Look, I don't want to fight with any of you, I will leave it up to you guys to decided what you want to do and I just want to enjoy just having you around. No fighting". I said "Ok, thank you."
Probate went through in October of 2017, I called my sister in the beginning of December and asked her about the rent again, she still was upset about it, and crying. I told her look, I understand you are upset but we need to come into a conclusion so that I can see how I make things work. I told her that no one is going to get screwed on this, as I will make sure to do things right. Like get the rent contract and make sure that it is all legal etc... She freaked out about that. She fought me over the phone & I just told her "Look, I giving you plently of time to think it over. I'm done fighting. I'm going to sell the house, You have until the end of March of 2019 to move out."
In January I started looking into selling my mothers house eventhough I didn't want to do it. My father called me to yell at me about screwing up everything that both my mother and him worked hard for. Except I told him " you left mom, you got your place & the life insurance, mom left us the house. This is none of your business, you told me to handle it and that you wont butt in." He called me selfish and ungrateful child. He said to never contact him unless is to "apologize" to him for being a bad person to my family. My brother also called me all kinds of names and tried to get me to feel guilty for kicking my sister out on the streets. First of all my little sister has a great job & so does her husband. They have 2 kids (which I love and I help raised one them). They are both capable of paying living expenses on their own. While living with my mother they bought 2 55" screen TV's, Payed for cable & internet, bought 2 gaming computers, ps4,xbox one, nintendo switch (2x) and the fridge was always fully stocked. I don't care on how they spent their money thats on them.

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo

Your Father should really just stay out of this.... He may be feeling some pain however he left and this is between your mother and her children
You could ask a lawyer to mediate for you.... Have your siblings come to a meeting with a lawyer and have him/her present the two options either you sell the house and the three children share the money you get from the house
OR
You rent the house..... I would have all of the information ready on how to present this to your siblings and they will either agree to option one or two....
This is what your mother wanted and so there should be no disagreement.... She set out how she wanted her assets divided period
Just because your sister is making noise doesn't mean she gets the entire estate
Big hug.... If you use an attorney I know that there will be a fee however it will take some of the onus of this off of you and simply state what the law is....xo
