Did I do something wrong?

I am in a state that has a stay at home order and I have been staying at home as much as possible because of concerns of COVID-19 complications due to me being pretty underweight. (My dad is basically terrified about this possibly happening also).


My mom had a doctor's appointment out of town the first full day of the SAH order, and then she went and stayed with out of town friends for several days.


She got home yesterday and assumed I would go over and ride out the rest of the quarantine with her.


She's become deeply offended that it might not be the best idea for me to do that since she was out of town.


Was the decision for me to keep staying at my house overcautious?

No, your choice is yours to make. You are an adult. You need to think of your own health.

This is a trying time for everyone. Your Mom may not have fully understood, but just call her on the phone, video chat, etc. In other words, still keep in contact with her, maybe even daily. Let her know that you are wanting to stay in contact with her and that this decision was nothing personal against her.

We are in a world wide crisis, after all.

Yea just keep in touch because I am sure she misses you. This will last awhile so we need to try to get along with each other as best as we can.

I would continue to be your cautious self. Your mom has unfortunately been exposed to other people by her own choice and you have to set boundaries with people if you feel she is not careful enough. I have a relative who is going out of town to visit other relatives and thinks this is okay. Both areas on mandatory stay home orders and they are the highest number of cases in our states. Technically all residents of our area are ordered to stay home unless working at an essential job. We decided that this relative is possibly taking the virus or possibly bringing it back. We can’t even believe the person who the relative will stay with even is okay with this, considering their own falling into the most worrisome health category. People who do not follow these mandatory health orders usually do push back against those that object because they don’t want to admit or acknowledge that they put themselves and others at potential risk. Instead they make us the bad guy for objecting.

I agree that you should stay where you are.... This is the safest thing to do and it's really imperative that we are safe at this time

This what will contain this terrible virus ….. You can talk to your mom other ways for now …. Big hug.....xo
