Hello all my name is Sherita and I'm new here. Im looking for advice and support on how to deal with Daddy Issues. True enough I'm 30 but I have never felt like my father loved me as much as my sister. Now I was diagnosed with a Chronic nerve condition back in October and I have only spoken too him once. Today takes the cake. He called my sister and talked to her for a minute with me sitting right there. He didn't ask once to speak to me or how was I doing or even his grandkids. I tried reaching out to him last month but the number I had wasn't good. My sister said she feels like I should tell him how I feel and I have tried that before and we ended up no where. What he is doing is very rude and hurtful and you deserve better. Some people just have the compassion of fleas and I am thinking he is one of them. What I would say to you is what I would hear in counseling many years ago--- sometimes family members may have their own issues and be incapable of truly understanding what we are trying to say or need. For me, telling him how I feel did allow me to get that out-- whether he heard it all or understood is on him. But for me it did help.
