Hi everyone.
Last week I found out that my mother accepted child support for me until I was 19 in Oct. 2010, and I have not spoken to her since. I feel like this could be the end of our relationship.
The reason I am so angry is because from the time I was 15-17 we were homeless, she had me sleeping in the back of her car piled with boxes even when I had a broken hand. I left the situation and slept on friends couches and worked two jobs while studying for my GED, (at the time I was a 6th grade drop out). I got my GED, saved for my first apartment and started college. The year 2009 my mom moved in with me and lived rent-free while she worked because I told her to save money for her own place. In September 2010 my baby girl was stillborn at nine months and we had to scrape together money to bury her, my boyfriends family paid for it all and even a stranger who I had never met gave us a thousand dollars so we could bury her. My mother didn't offer a dime and neither did anyone else in my family, and this is what really hurts the most, that at the time when I needed the most help she didn't step up at all despite all I had done to help her.
When I found out that she had been getting $250 a month in child support as well as her working wage I was livid. She was not supporting me, I was supporting HER. And she couldn't even give me a dime of the money my dad sent to her for me to BURY HER GRANDCHILD! I thought of all the times I called her crying when I was a 17 year old kid because I needed bus money for school or my lights were going to get shut off because I couldn't pay the bill, and the whole time she was accepting and spending money that was supposed to be helping me get through college. I'm super hurt and angry and I feel abandoned all over again. What kind of mother does that to their kid? She didn't even care enough to help me when I was doing everything right but she gave money to my meth addicted sister to pay her bills.
comments, opinions, or rants are all welcome. Thanks

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
i agree what kind of mother does that? sounds like my mom a mother who didn't wanna be a parent in the 1st place, so god damn selfish, self absorb, etc ur mom sounds like a complete bitch. everything is all about her and nobody else. so, why is your meth addict sister more important? i never understood why a parent would help their drug addict child, dead beat child, etc but not help their child who is not like that all.
I'm sorry for your loss, so sorry.
I'm sorry for your mom. Take this behavior of hers and use it to be a stronger person. You know it isn't right. You know you tried to do right by her, but she didn't fully appreciate you.
Live your life knowing the good you do for others is the right thing.
As for your mom, let her go. I don't think you owe her anything and I totally understand why it may be the end of your relationship right now. You need to be proud of yourself. you have been through so much and have made it. YOU did that..>YOU made it to where you are now. Her screw ups = Your ability to succeed...
Many of us have messed up families/moms...I found out my mom got social security for me when I was 17, 3 months later, it stopped...I put myself through college, lived on my own from 16 one, etc. etc...I get angry here and there about it, but then I realize that if I hadn't been so self sufficient, I wouldn't have the life I have now...and I'm proud of who I am and what I've done with little support from my mom. It does chap me to the core, and it hurts more on some days, but I find comfort knowing I am what I am because I worked my a** off to get here.
Stand tall....:)
