Mom just died. My brother has a personality disorder. And can't hold a job. He is on SSI. Moms lawyer wouldn't make charge. At the time
it was often a company was going to be in he trust so no one waned to be in charge. So I am. I might find someone to run I now. But hat woukd make money away from brother. Plus he doesn't like to talk to strangers.
How do I handle this? Dealing wih brother and making sure I don't make
mistake. And cost him his SSI or medicade.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
What does your husband say about the situation? Is there anyone else in the family that you can talk with and decide on next steps.
A lot of this will depend on your mother's will and what arrangements she made to ensure your brother is set financially.
What legal paperwork or arrangements have been made on your brother's behalf?
I would say that if arrangements have not been made prior to your mother's passing then you would need to meet with an estate attorney and have his care arrangements finalized through the court system.
Brother is difficult to deal with. Gets angry easily and and out of proportion to the situation. Won't listen to other people's opinions.
Thinks he is always right.
I don't want to hire a lawyer to run trust. Money will go too quickly.

How do you communicate with a person like my brother?
Barbara
He's going to need you so he should be willing to meet you half way. He may have bullied your mother to get what he's wanted but I would take a stand if I were you and tell him that it won't work with you.
Don't forget, he's going to need you a lot more than you need his difficult attitude; I'd tell him that! Take a stand and set boundaries.
Until you know what you're going to do, tell him that you're still "settling the estate" or some such line. Repeat the same thing over and over.
What's the money to go toward? Housing? Food? Can he shop for himself?
Are you looking to give him a weekly allowance?
And I'm sorry for your lose,
Patti
If your mom's lawyer won't take charge of the trust for your brother I would hire another one who will ... You can discuss the business at the same time if you decide it's what you want to do or at least discuss your options...
Big hug and a blessing...xo
