Exhausted by my mother

My mother is bipolar with psychosis. She used to be fully functionalShe has been in an emotional crisis for 4 months straight. She has had 4 hospitalizations and every day seems to get worse. She has lost more than 30 pounds, she cannot walk, she cannot do anything by herself (I have to bathe her, feed her, entertain her, give her meds etc.) and she WILL NOT SLEEP. She is screaming CONSTANTLY without any reason. Nothing keeps her quiet and she will not let me do anything. I am a grad student, taking 29 credits and she will simply not let me study. She will just demand attention by screming or trowing herself off the bed. She wont let me sleep, I am exhausted, I'm frustrated, im angry and I dont know what else to do? She is just not getting better. I feel my life is stuck, I wont be able to finish my studies and make nothing for myself because of her...

Does her pdoc know what's going on? I would think he/she needs to know that her meds aren't working. I think you could have a talk with her pdoc and give him/her symptoms without breaking patient/dr. confidently.

Sounds very hurtful!!! I think a call to pdoc would be a first step, perhaps some type of evaluation medically? from primary care dr due to weight loss. Or another hospital stay to get meds straightened out,

If your Mom is purposely throwing herself off her bed for attention, perhaps place the box spring and mattress only on the floor....broken bones you don't need and remove anything that could be a danger to her...meds in her room?

As far as daily care a call to the social service dept in your area might be a good direction to get 'in home' respite care for your Mom, at least to give you a break.

I would take her back to the hospital..... This isn't any good for either of you.... She isn't getting better and you can't live your life

I would tell them as well not to discharge her until she's stable... Big hug.....xo

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
