So a woman is washing her dishes, looks out the windows and sees a man pointing a gun at her. She drops to the floor in terror and goes for her gun. The armed man bangs on the door demanding entry yelling "“We're the f------ police; open the f------ door.” Turns out the man holding the gun is law enforcement and they raid the woman's home without a warrant searching for a sex offender. Law enforcement thinks this type of raid is just fine and that the woman shouldn't have gone to the press because they didn't shoot or arrest her.

I know some are going to hate me(even more) but I once carried the Badge of a Deputy US Marshal, BUT I was not a part of the Marshal Service, nor was I an Impostor....I was part of the Military Deserter Recovery Team, STRICTLY Military, being Deputized and given the ID and Badge just made it easier to do our job dealing with local LE, carrying guns on airplane and transporting prisoners...NOW, I have to say, this was a lot of years ago, we didn't take doors down, it was easier and safer to hit them on the street..All the guys I picked up were just young kids who couldn't handle the life they signed up for but some of my colleges went after deserters who were murders, rapists etc....You think Civilian Law is tough? Look up the UCMJ...Just talking back to a superior can get you into legal trouble.(Not usually, but it has happened).
NOW, I AM LEAVING CAPS LOCK ON BECAUSE THIS IS IMPORTANT....THESE MARSHALS SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR THEIR BEHAVIOR, THEY HIT THE WRONG HOUSE, BUT, AND I MEAN BUT!!! HAD I USED THE LANGUAGE THEY USED, EVEN TO THE SUBJECT I WAS LOOKING FOR, AT THE LEAST, I''D HAVE MY ASS CHEWED OFF....
OK, as for the illegal entry, it was only illegal because they had the wrong house...All the cops need is an ARREST WARRANT and probable cause that the subject is in the residence, they don't need a SEARCH warrant...Even I don't like it, but that is the way it is LEGALLY.
I am against NO KNOCK WARRANTS except in certain situations...KNOCK AND ANNOUNCE once mean't, Knock knock knock, Police, Search Warrant and had to be repeated 3 times, giving the person time to open the door peacefully, but now it has become "Knock,Knock,Knock, Police, Search Warrant, CRASH!!!...There was a case a year or so ago where the cops did what i just said, New Mexico I believe, where the cops took the door down of a drug dealer, he really was, BUT he was also a Marine Iraq and Astan Vet, asleep, who came up shooting, it was 5 or 6 am and his kids were getting ready for school..I would have probably reacted the same, but the cops put 72 bullets into him....WHICH BRINGS ME TO CAPS LOCK AGAIN... YOU CAN SAY, "I'M GONNA STAND MY GROUND" AND YOU MAY EVEN HIT A COP..GUESS WHAT IS GONNA HAPPEN? HIS BUDDIES ARE GONNA BLOW YOU ASS AWAY!! NO BULLSHIT...IF YOU SURVIVE? YOU WILL "COMMIT SUICIDE" IN JAIL....DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE ME? ASK NATHAN ABOUT MATHEW STEWART IN OGDEN UTAH, HE KILLED ONE COP AND WOUNDED 5 OTHERS...HE JUST COMMITTED SUICIDE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO IN JAIL;.....HE NEVER MADE IT TO TRIAL....
Again, the Marshal in charge should be fired, he is responsible for his people and for verifying his info...
I don't have the answers, but shooting at cops ain't it, you're gonna lose...
Some here only look at "TACTICAL" options, but fail to look at STRATEGIC" reality....

Now, if this situation happened in Indiana, she may very well have been shot and killed but I seriously doubt it ever would have occurred. For the sake of argument let's just say she took down a few cops and lived to tell about it. Does she go to jail and face a trial? Probably not.
SECTION 1. IC 35-41-3-2, AS AMENDED BY P.L.189-2006, SECTION 1, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE]: Sec. 2. (a) In enacting this section, the general assembly finds and declares that it is the policy of this state to recognize the unique character of a citizen's home and to ensure that a citizen feels secure in his or her own home against unlawful intrusion by another individual or a public servant. By reaffirming the long standing right of a citizen to protect his or her home against unlawful intrusion, however, the general assembly does not intend to diminish in any way the other robust self defense rights that citizens of this state have always enjoyed. Accordingly, the general assembly also finds and declares that it is the policy of this state that people have a right to defend themselves and third parties from physical harm and crime. The purpose of this section is to provide the citizens of this state with a lawful means of carrying out this policy.
(b) As used in this section, "public servant" means a person described in IC 35-41-1-17, IC 35-31.5-2-129, or IC 35-31.5-2-185.
(c) A person is justified in using reasonable force against any other person to protect the person or a third person from what the person reasonably believes to be the imminent use of unlawful force.
(i) A person is justified in using reasonable force against a public servant if the person reasonably believes the force is necessary to:
(1) protect the person or a third person from what the person reasonably believes to be the imminent use of unlawful force;
(2) prevent or terminate the public servant's unlawful entry of or attack on the person's dwelling, curtilage, or occupied motor vehicle; or
(3) prevent or terminate the public servant's unlawful trespass on or criminal interference with property lawfully in the person's possession, lawfully in possession of a member of the person's immediate family, or belonging to a person whose property the person has authority to protect.

You may not agree with it but the Indiana legislature did this just to put some teeth back into the 4th Amendment and keep the police on their toes. Rumor has it illegal entries have dropped off dramatically since this was signed into law. Too many times the police, particularly the feds, treat the normal citizen as an enemy combatant, almost as a terrorist, instead as a fellow citizen. They treat them as a “mere inconvenience”, someone who stands in their way of their goals---whatever that may be, and they treat the United State Constitution and people’s civil rights as something they have to contend with and JUST TOLERATE rather than something which they were sworn to uphold.
There is no excuse for law enforcement to employ SWAT teams to investigate someone in cases such as child pornography or solicitation over the Internet. The method they use, terrorizing families, shooting the family dog, and generally conducting themselves as if they were a part of the Third Reich is truly disgusting. This is NOT the America I grew up in.
Remember, these people being investigated are still innocent, and the families sure as hell have done nothing to deserve these heavy handed tactics.
All too often these rogue cops appear to be nothing but thugs in a uniform.
