You have to realize that this is all part of the game they play.

I am an avid historian of the gangsters of the 1930's. Ha ha Sort of ironic, I know, but true. John Dillinger, a notorious bank robber of the 1930's, was asked by one of his gang members, Harry Pierpont, why their gang was getting all the blame for each and every bank robbery done in the Midwest even though at the time they were laying low in Chicago and not committing any crimes.

Dillinger told Pierpont, "They want to build us up, so when they catch us and kill us they will look like even bigger heroes."

At that time, if you will recall, the FBI was in its infancy and J. Edgar Hoover was the Director of the FBI. The FBI need exposure in the form of good press and media coverage to receive funding from the United States government. So, Hoover made every small time hoodlum and gangster in the Depression Era look like monsters. Hell, he even framed Pretty Boy Floyd for the Kansas City Massacre so he could procure funds for his agency.

What better way to get publicity than to maximize a threat and then destroy that threat? He had most of the American citizens behind him in his bid to "extinguish the vermin known as gangsters" in the 1930's.

And so it is with sex offenders. They make us all look like perverts and predators in raincoats, ready to jump out from behind every bush and snatch up every small child we see. They create hysteria, and then play on that hysteria so the can continue to receive huge federal grants to fight cyber crime and maintain the registries.

Halloween is a good example. The media and politicians have created a problem that never existed---and all the hysteria behind the problem. I have never heard of one child ever being raped on Halloween, but if we listen to the media, Halloween is the scariest time of the year and the most likely time for child sex crimes to occur.

They create an illusion that does not exist.

If history does anything, it repeats itself.

Sorry, Heartbroken. These are crazy times. There are plenty of "haters" in the world. The problem with haters is that the real people who they hate is themselves. That's why they have to take it out on others.

I do have a question, however. Chances are people will ignore this. It is asked somewhat rhetorically.

You implied that not all sex offenders are equal. I understand what you mean. Its like someone who habitually drives drunk and never gets caught vs. a kid who has a little too much and gets a DUI.

However, this is an important issue, so here is my question…

Why are sex offenders not equal?

Maybe we should take the context of what constitutes a minor sex offense. - R&Js get the most sympathy from the public. In some states they get off after about 10yrs on the registry. I guess there are those that are on for urinating in public, though i have yet to meet one, or hear of one. There is that one tragic story about the kid streaking a football game, but unfortunately he will not get his day in court - we will never know. I have read that those that expose themselves have the highest recidivism rate, not sure by how much, or why. These are some of the more minor offenses I can think of....anyone?

There are a lot of laws, statutes, on the books that define actions as a sex offense, which really are not sex offenses. They may legally be deemed a sex offense, but are not in a moral sense.

I think of all the cp convictions. If someone who downloaded child pornography is a sex offender, WHO DID HE OFFEND AGAINST?
It certainly was not the children in the images or videos as they have no idea the defendant even exists. Many of those images were taken years ago and have undoubtedly been viewed by thousands of people. Child pornography is a non contact offense, so who did the person offend against to make him a sex offender?

A similar situation is seen with all the solicitation of underage females on the internet. Since many of the "victims" were actually cops acting as females as part of a sting operation---and there was no victim--- WHO DID THE DEFENDANT OFFEND AGAINST to make him a sex offender? It certainly was not the cop and there was not victim, so WHO did he offend against to make him a sex offender?

Politicians can pass a law to make anyone anything. It is just the political and social climate that we are in that allows a non contact offense, with no victim, to be listed as a sex offense.

This country has gone nuts, completely insane.

I have issues with girls who lie about rape claims or people who get drunk and hook up and the next morning don't remember, or even those girls that go out with intention to get blackout drunk and then play the victim when a guy has sex with them when they're barely conscious. I know a lot of feminists who write blogs and articles saying we shouldn't blame the women who are taken advantage of because rape is rape, but I think that if you want to be stupid and put yourself in the lion's den you shouldn't get to be treated holier than the guy who took advantage of your mental state at the time. Especially when his mental state was probably just as messed up as yours at the time. I don't believe in placing that guy on the registry. If anything I think both the victim and the perpetrator should be put through treatment in order to prevent that behavior from repeating itself.

FYI: The she-devil DA that my loved one came up against made a big show of a website that "victims" can go to, sign up, and provide Victim Impact Statements. Whoa boy, did the local newspapers jump on that!

CSC-4th degree is a high misdomeanor. 2 year max crime that will get you 10 - 25 years on the sex offender registry. Indecent exposure also was a 90 day misdomeanor at its lowest level and won't get you on the registry unless you do it twice but many people got on from urinating in public or streaking if a minor was present. That can get you on with one offense. Michigan has thousands of CSC-4 offenders on the registry.

Legislators are trying to get johns on the SOR now and Romeo and Juliet kids are very common. Michigan has one of the largest populations of sex offenders.

When I first got on the registry back in 2002 most employers saw it as a misdomeanor offense. Now a days no one can tell the difference usually with misdomeanors or high level felonies. They just hear.... Sex offender.

Peekachu I am not trying to offend anyone at all. I said that because of people urinating and other things they continue to add to the list of putting people on the list. I did not mean anything by it by no means. I apologize if I have offended anyone.
