In other words, he will be on probation type supervision for the remainder of his life. He will have to report to a PO and follow through with all the regulations set out for sex offender for the rest of his life.

FL was lifetime on the registry but because I brought him home here to PA and he didn't have to register in FL he's 15 years on the registry.
Before I went to FL to get my son I emailed the sheriff department in Orlando and they wrote me back telling me that my son didn't have to register in FL because he wasn't staying there for 3 days. I have it in 'writing' just in case there are issues in the future.
Maybe you could contact your sheriff department as well.

Hurtingfam: the probation officer my son first saw said that 15 years is crazy for his crime and that he's so low risk. Next year, when all the jurisdiction is finally transferred up here, (still waiting for that), we're going to petition the court to have it cut back. We've been told they most likely won't but we should keep trying every year and have a paper trail to show for it. Eventually we're hoping to , at least , cut it in half.
Probation just sucks. My son wants to go places, but he has to get permission first and his PO isn't very accommodating. To have to answer to someone , when you've already did your time is crazy, especially for our guys. Seems SOs get a lot more probation time than any other group.
