We do need a new board. Absolutely! but not for the reasons some may think. we need a new board so we can talk freely about issues that are no one else's business.

In fact the only thing that really distresses me about this board is anyone can and does drop in to see what we are up to. do we really want to post our strategies on a public forum?

When you look at this as a battle you start to think about the precautions a good army takes...one is not disclosing operations, which i feel we do every time we discuss a particular bill. Why should we help them know what we are focusing on? we really need to look at our tactics and address our security.

I have been talking to some about setting up a new board, and we have come up with a floor plan. anyone with experience or knowledge setting up a new social site or has any ideas please p.m. me.

it is not to replace this one, but to enhance what we have going here....as many new members all the boards are getting i think a lot of what we are experiencing are growing pains and it may be the time to expand our horizons.

I have to say I'm behind on my part of this. I've just been swamped here lately with a whole bunch of stuff I didn't know was coming.

The public nature of this board has been a concern of mine, too. I feel stifled at times in my sharing because of it.

I have also thought about what you are bringing up about exposing tactics. I think you are correct about moving the activism to a private board. It makes total sense to me.

I disagree - tactics as you call them is not what this board is for - the places that work with laws about SO's etc are not hidden - they are public for everyone as they should be. Show me one post where we actually discussed tactics

I assumed tactics to mean things like trying to organize a protest or pushing for or against a bill or law. Am I wrong in that, Jackie?

It would be good to define the terms used.

yes but those organizations are no good if the people who need them do not have access and it puts us in the shadows even more - every time someone posts on here to write senators etc. that info comes from another SO organization and the info is already public

Unfortunately sofar did not take off, I think many found it too cumbersome, but I still think sam was onto something, too bad he went in before fine tuning it.

Advocate, I know it is public knowledge, and that we can not avoid....what we don't need is anyone knowing what we plan to do with that public knowledge.

I am at the point to where i do not want to post on this board, so i will be sending a lot of p.ms which is a bloody hassle....

tactics should be handled in the state groups in a safe place, I really think that all changes on SO laws are going to have to be won on a state level, federal level will take to much time and money plus the groups are too splintered on how to handle things.

I do agree that writing letters, ( phone calls) to your fed reps help with some laws but as a general rule more changes have come from state levels.

Many SOs still do not know about our groups, Why, because most that are still on probation etc cannot use the web, and with some on for 10 years or more it will be awhile before they find out.

Letter writing to the SOs does not seem to help much, few respond, I think the main goal should be de-register, that seems to be the only hope unless the 100s of thousands get up off their rears.
