The job offer I had...or thought I had...was rescinded, due to what they found on the background check. So, after finding a job, putting a deposit on an apartment, and practically having both feet out the door at my current place, it's back to square one. (Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.)

Well, I have another (tentative) job offer. Pay is actually better than the last one. Hopefully this one sticks.

I was released from Oakdale FCI in May of 2014 and came to Washington, DC. I had nowhere to go, so a couple who befriended me while I was in prison guided me to the Central Union Mission. Through the Mission I found a wonderful church. I was made a member in November and was baptized in February. I have made many friends and all are supportive. I have been completely upfront since I left prison, and I Agree with Advocate2: It is the best way. Far too many try to leave it till it comes up and then deal with it. Hit it head on. That strategy will not work all the time, but it will work more times than you think.

I am fully employed through the Mission and am working on developing work training programs for those with criminal backgrounds, including SO's.

Our lives will never be the same, but they can have meaning and be rewarding. I personally look to God for the strength, courage, wisdom, and desire to seek out and do His will, and it works.
