An inmate could purchase a TV on the canteen there in the prison.
I was never at a facility where one could be sent in and I doubt any prison would allow it because they would be worried about contraband; also they like inmates to spend there money at the canteen.

The TVs were $180 in 2006. I do not have an updated list.

Times a year where you can get a TV for about $100 or less.
Hub wanted to get one, but more he thinks about it, he decided against one. Thinks he only wants a hot plate and radio. He spends a lot of time reading, so not interested inTV.
There already in the prisons hear I gess that's one thing they got right.
Inmates recieve the packages and a copy of the catalog.
And yes, they can only recieve paperback books. Of which they are only allowed a total of 10 books, so they share the books with other inmates to get around that rule.
It go to the point I was getting requests for certain types of books ...books like the Left Behind series were quite popular believe it or not
The most popular books when I was in were the Louis L'amour westerns and the Patricia Cornwell books.
The pedophiles all liked to watch Nickelodean and, believe it or not, cartoons. Many of them were childlike.
The most popular TV program for the other inmates was Pamela Anderson's Bay Watch every afternoon. Of course, the big attraction was CineMax on late Friday night when they had the X-rated shows. That was always must see TV. ha ha

In my state all the mediums except one had individual two man cells. The other one was open dorm. The mediums that had two man cells were allowed to have TVs.
In my state all the minimums except one was open dorms, a kind of bull pen arrangement where bunk beds were stacked in close proximity to each other. The other minimum, the one which had two man cells is where I was at in the last five years of my incarceration. The two man cells had a TV I purchased when I was at the medium but was allowed to bring it to the minimum when I went to lower security. I had a TV at both my stay at a medium and a minimum.

However, I like some of the other explanations of what the acronym means above.
