Anyway, BF and I were talking about what will be different after probation by while he's still on the registry. Right now he's not allowed on the internet unless we take it to court (foe school/work/etc if he were to need it), no alcohol, etc. our question is this--are the rules the same when just on the registry? We still can't have alcohol or Internet? Or is the only thing we have to worry about schools and parks?
Just curious. :)
Thanks!
Wander,
Your lives will be 1000% better once he is off probation and only has the registry to contend with. Once he is off probation, he will have effectively completed his sentence and all the probation restrictions and rules will be history.
Once on the registry the only rules he will have to follow are state statutes enacted for registrants. I don't know all the restrictions for Tennessee, but in many states there are residency restrictions and buffer zones. Some states have a restrictions for parks and school property. A few states require a mark on the driver's license. He will have to register in person according to statutes and his picture will likely be on the internet.
But there will be no polygraphs, mandated therapy, curfews, extra fees or fines, or POs to contend with. He can drink alcohol and any fireworks are permissible. He can be on the Internet also, unless there is a state statute that limits its use, but a lot of those laws are being struck down by the courts.
Here are some links that will help you with the Tennessee registry rules------

PS Once off any paper time---probation----- they can no longer just barge into your house without a warrant signed by a judge. None of this coming into the house to just "look around." Keep them out of your house if they do a compliance check for an address verification.
