Every time one sex offender out of prison does something this stupid it makes it so much harder for the ones that are still in to be able to get a 2nd chance.

I completely agree with you and I believe that it does serious blows to efforts to get lawmakers to work with us in passing needed laws. Things like this just make folks more adversarial. And of course we know all too well that the media loves stories such as this - this same newspaper has, thus far, refused to publish an article on the recent radio broadcast discussing the issues involved in civil commitment.

That paper has always been big on the "hype, " just like at least one of the TV stations in Springfield...

What exactly is the crime here? Other than the manufactured crime of residency restrictions / registration duty? Who specifically has come to harm? Am I missing something?

About this guy - at the age of 24 he was convicted of Statutory Sodomy with a 16 year old male. Sounds bad.... apparently in MO this offense is anyone convicted of "deviate sexual intercourse" with a person under 17 (i.e. 16). Still sounds bad... but apparently "deviate sexual intercourse" is defined as "any act involving the genitals of one person and the hand, mouth, tongue, or anus of another person". So this could have been any number of willing activities with a 16 year old male minor. One old enough to drive, work and be charged as an adult for a variety of crimes, should he commit them. So lets get a grip here.

What I find to be of much greater concern is that a random person places a craigslist ad for child care at $75(!) per week, and that people actually utilize this service with what is supposed to be the most precious thing to them. What about the CHILDREN!!! License, anyone?

How is THIS possible? Where are the consequences for both the people offering this service, and those using it? How can the care of our children, in whose name all these laws are created, not be regulated? To me THAT is the real outrage here.
