Wow she did get a real deal. Why because of who she was?? 48 weekends in jail for what she did how sweet. This is the problem there is set sentence for crimes and they always get a better deal normally if they have money

It also helps a lot if they are young and attractive. If this lady had been a minority, overweight, needing a lot of dental work and a bad complexion, I can guarantee you she would have received a much harsher sentence.

That's where the system is totally wrong. But it will not change. It just hurts to see people get off this easy and did worse then my husband and he got slapped hard.

I'm not sure her attractiveness comes into play here. The fact she is a woman certainly does though. Women get treated very differently from men when prosecuted for sex crimes. One could argue that this boy was probably a willing participant in this, and probably more willing than a lot of younger girls if the roles were reversed. (I know if an NFL cheerleader wanted her way with me when I was 15 I would've gone along with it.) From my limited understanding of human sexuality, it seems much more likely that a younger girl who seems willing to engage in a sexual act with someone much older was usually previously abused. While that is certainly a distinct possibility for boys in a similar situation, i feel it is far less likely.

And while the boy may have been a more willing partner I can certainly see the power differences in play here as well. There is a reason for these laws to be in place for both boys and girls for their own protection.

Independent - you may be correct that it is her sex that prompted the light sentence (a double standard) but to me it is the point that whether it was attractiveness or just her sex in general - the double standard exists and it is the same unjust stereo types that have caused some of this RSO hysteria in the first place.
