This is so damn disgusting that law enforcement willingly breaks the law in order to keep their arrest totals at a high enough level to continue to receive thousands of dollars in federal grants.

This is all about money and having a steady stream of federal aid to these law enforcement agencies. This is not about cyber crime or the children or combating predators. That is just rhetoric, a red herring, that law enforcement uses to keep the real truth from the public.

A Frankenstein-like monster has been created here. In order to feed the monster in the form of federal grants, more and more arrests must be made. These continuing arrests are needed so law enforcement agencies can show they are doing something to fight a problem that was never a major law enforcement problem to begin with.

These corrupt police departments will not willingly give up this little criminal enterprise they are operating, as that would mean the loss of all the federal grant money. They then might have to get off their asses and fight real crime.

A time honored tactic the government uses-----create a problem, throw thousands of dollars into trying to solve the problem, fool the public into thinking that they are making progress to fix the problem, then ask for more money. Works every time. It worked in the War on Drugs, it is working in the War on Child Porn and it is working on these solicitation stings.

This is the American taxpayer's hard earned dollars that are being used to fund these stings. I hope everyone wakes up someday, but that is probably asking too much from a public that all too often is "willfully ignorant" of anything to do with the criminal justice system.
