5 years ago I met my husband, he was caught with CP very early into our relationship and I stuck by thinking he had changed and gotten help for his addiction. He just went to prison last week and I have discovered he has been living a double life up until the week he went to prison and engaging in very high risk behavior. That same week I found out I am getting laid off from my job. I have hit rock bottom. I am beyond devestated and hurt. I am in the process of divorce.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have helped me stay strong through all of this the past 2 years. This is an amazing community. I am so happy I found this place to seek comfort and safety in numbers knowing that we all are here together dealing with some sort of pain and hardship. I truly send out love and hugs to all of you who continue to fight everyday and stand by your loved ones. I will not be deleting my account because I do want to be here to support others like all of you who have been here for me but right now I will be taking a little break to give myself some time to heal from this.

I am so sorry - but you are amazing for sticking by him early on. Can you elaborate (details not necessary) on the risky behavior? I only think it could help others see warning signs, etc.?

So sorry for the betrayal and disappointment you are feeling. You cannot control addictions or the behavior of others. When one door closes, another one opens, and that is definitely the case in prison. In your case, your door is opening up to a new life which I pray will bring you much happiness and new opportunities. Your inner strength will get you through this time in your life.

Thank you Rew, it is really tough to let go when you want so badly to help this person beat their addictions but i know I gave it my all and I will be strong after this. Thank you for your support.

Advocate2 after the Feds raided our apartment and took his computers etc a few months later after intense therapy, he started looking at porn again and then took it a step further communicating with girls asking for photos of them etc who said "I am 18" and was looking at "barely legal" porn sections. He had multiple Reddit accounts. Reddit has some very dark and scary places there and he was sucked right back into his addictions even after the raid. These people could have been police officers. Our therapist said he was shocked that he never reached out for help even after intense therapy.

Peace2all it really is hard to see how these sick addictions can really consume someone's life and ruin it all for them and after getting caught they still can't control their urges and the desire to feed these fantasies don't go away. He didn't get the therapy he needed and he never hit rock bottom. Losing me will be rock bottom. I married someone I thought had changed. Once you have someones phone and computer in your possession it doesn't take long for secrets to come to the surface. Thank you for your kind words.
