Support Groups In My Area

Does anyone know what kind of a search I need to do to find a support group for Mother's? Shall I contact AA? I have been looking online and not sure which one fits me. I need to reach out to find people this has happened to for support and friendship since I have no family or friends where we live. Searching for groups is so overwhelming to me at this time. Thank you.

If your town or city has a college/university school of social work, they may have a broad list of resources.

I am so sorry you are having problems.

I see where you live in California. You might contact Californiarsol, as they may have some sources.
In fact, I was just there and found a page that had a list of support groups.

You also might contact ThoughtAsWeak as she is very knowledgeable about all these laws and the support available in the California area. She is a moderator here, very wise, and compassionate.

This group is the best support group I have found. I like the anonymity of meeting online. Some days (in fact some months) I don't have any energy to be supportive of anyone else. Having two sons in prison, I'm pretty overwhelmed a lot of the time.

Two other sources of online support groups that may appeal to you are:

http://forum.jpay.com/activity.php (There are similar subgroups.)

Both forums are free to register. I always use a pseudonym. I have found both forums to be very supportive, but my favorite is Daily Strength.

I am a member of an online support group for wives, moms, girls friends, etc.. Its been a wonderful support system..

I checked out the Offenders Wife community. I almost joined, until I saw that it was connected to Facebook and that I would have to divulge my real name. I'm sorry, but I just don't feel good about that. I think I'll just stick with this wonderful Daily Strength group.
