The "expands the information the public has on sex offenders" disturbs me the most I think. The other night when this new (old) accusation came up I couldn't sleep & yes I found our address all over the internet. But, the one that really disturbed me is the license plate number of the car. That scared me.

Have they enacted the special driver's license plates for sex offenders in Ohio? I knew they were trying in 2007, but I thought it never materialized into law. They do have a DUI license plate, I believe.

The special license plate would be all hunky dory until a registrant's wife or one of his kids are driving the marked car and are attacked and injured by vigilantes against sex offenders. That would create a huge liability issue---and probably several civil law suits.

No thankfully the special plates did not pass. I had read about that. Absolutely frightening.

Ohio does not have the license plates for RSO. Only for DUI

I am in Rhode Island and this is the 3rd time they have tried to pass it. Each time never made it out of the house but this time it passed. What the Senate will do I have no idea but I'm scared as hell. This is a small state where everyone knows everyone and if this passes I will lose my job and after that who knows what will happen. I do not know if it will be retroactive but I was convicted in Florida so eather way I am a lifetime. Here at least I have been able to keep this quiet but now who knows what will happen.

I understand your fear. I got off the registry 2 years before the AWA was passed in my state. If not for that, I would have gone from a 10 year registration to 25 in a blink. What I don't understand is that the AWA is offense based. So, why do they take the lifetime for everyone periods from non AWA states like Florida and keep them in place in an AWA state?

Ohio not only reports car make, model, and license plate number, but also PLACE OF WORK. It's terrifying.

Maryland does the same thing. It lists any vehicle the rso owns or uses and lists the addresses of their work places. The only reason my car isn't listed is because my son doesn't drive.

TN also reports vehicles, license plate make model etc. of any vehicle my husband could be driving. Also his work address. When dealing with this, I sometimes wish we could have kept his residence in NH, they are doing good things up there.
The main problem we have is my husband travels for work, so he is of course on many states registries, and of course they try to impose other degrees of registration on him, as his crime is misdemeanor sexual assault and most states don't have a correlating charge. It is to say the least another layer of nightmare beyond the usual.

Michigan lists car info and work info on their registry. I just looked at Ohio's registry and they have tabs on there that say car info and work info, but nobody has any information listed under those tabs. I checked the profiles for about 20 people on the Ohio registry and I can't imagine that all of them are jobless and carless, so I don't know what the story is there. Not only does Ohio have the DUI license plates, but they also have a DUI registry that lists people who have been convicted of something like 4 or more DUIs.

PA lists all cars operated and work zip code. The cars operated pose a problem for fleet drivers that may operate many cars in a year. Or, what about a car mechanic that road tests vehicles daily?
