I have noticed that student/teacher sexual contact seems to be a national epidemic. There is one case about every two or three weeks here in Oklahoma

Sort of ironic, that many states have residency restrictions which state a registrant cannot live within "x" number of feet from a school, buffer zones around schools, and an absolute prohibition from a registrant being on school property yet there is so much sexual conduct within the school itself.

It's not new but times change. When we first moved to NV years ago i worked with a woman married to a principle who met her husband when he was her high school math teacher. She got pregnant but a shot-gun marriage 'solved' everything and 'they lived happily ever after."

Janetmackie I think is right when I was in the news biz there probably was about 1-3 cases a month here in ct. ADDITIONALLY there were 1-3 new cases a WEEK of male/female teens posing as adults on adult websites duping adults into having sex with them. These cases became so numerous we stopped reporting on them.

When I was at school we had 2 teachers that were involved with underage students. One was dismissed quietly, the other kept his job(still there to this day) and the student was shipped away. In the past year there have been 6+ in our rural area of 52k people. 3 I know of have ended in marriage but they didn't last, it seemed it was just a way to avoid being dubbed an offender forever.

Are these incidents more common, or are they just being reported more?

Someone should suggest a law prohibiting teachers from being within 500 feet of a school.

Joehillsghost, I honestly think that these cases have been going on all along, some stay hidden, some get quietly swept under the rug, some are reported, we're living in a different technological age now.
