Wtf is wrong with people? I cannot even comprehend how monumentally stupid you must be in order to think that this makes sense.

Good news is now it can go up the federal court system and maybe make it to SCOTUS.

Actually that should be a pepper upper for those that live in SC. They read the headline, get all nervous, and then when they find out the ruling was for NC instead of SC, they are overjoyed.

Yes, this is NC not SC. As I've said in a previous post, the laws here are ambiguous and they can make them mean whatever they want - for example, not allowing someone to use Skype. Am I allowed to go to Wal Mart because children are known to go to Wal Mart. Or, am I not allowed within 300 feet of just the toy section or the children clothes section? Am I allowed to use Google chat for work? I really, really want to get out of this state....

I am amazed (and happy!) that I live in SC. It is an anomaly in the center of the "Bible Belt!" I know that living inland is much more harsh than the coast though state law has been far more civil than surrounding states...

wasent this struck down by the supreme court a few years ago?

In general I have wondered about having a Facebook account. Mostly I want to connect with family members that I have been estranged with. Heck.. my mom's aunt, whom I never thought would have a Facebook account, has one before I ever had one...lol.

I have talked with my aunt on my biological side of my family and she is a proponent of me not having one only for the reason of keeping anything bad happening to me and she doesn't really believe in Facebook anyway because she feels family issues should be private anyways and not open for the world to see. (she believed this even before my conviction as an S.O.)

I have already told people time and time again to avoid talking about it (this stems from my prison experiences most likely) that Facebook is just a "clique" club anyways and that who needs 100+ friends that are not really true friends anyways. They are just there for "status".

I still think about it at times but I have been afraid to ask. (I may try this time around when I go register for November) I think also I am more afraid of who will make trouble for me and at my job that I need to keep if I join Facebook.

Hence the fear of the lynch mob with burning torches and pitch forks.

I know a federal judge ruled the social media ban law in Louisiana unconstitutional - I do not think anything has made it to the SCOTUS.

This was a NC state supreme court overturning an appeal from a lower court.... This was not a federal court.

I live in NC, I'm well aware of the details of this case ... I was saying that a federal court overturned the same law in LOUISIANA.

You don't have to "admit" to anything on your fb page. You can also put aside the status of having a bunch of friends. My husband does not have his own page but we share my page. We do not friend everyone and there are only a select few that know our true situation. I am against restrictions like this, there are so so many SO's out there that made one mistake and have to pay in so many ways that are unfair. Are they going to restrict how an SO breaths?

Different federal district so until SCOTUS rules on it this stands as the law of NC. This hopefully will get challenged in federal court now and work its way up. This decision could actually be a blessing because it gets this case in the federal system and potentially to the Supreme Court.
