I'm not so sure that California is all that grand, as they are pretty radical out there. But with Janice Bellucci, President of California Reform Sex Offender Laws, and an attorney out there fighting for us, you will have support. But I would still stay away form California.

Most any place would be better than Florida, but please, dear God, stay out of the Bible Belt states. The legislators in these states are nuts and they just sit around and think of new laws every session to harass sex offenders.

In case you are not sure what states encompass the Bible Belt, here they are:

Oklahoma -- rednecks and hillbillies. Think deliverance.

Missouri--see latest fiasco with the realtors and home buyers bill regarding SOs.

Texas -- we need to give them their wish and allow them to secede from the union. Rick Perry, the death penalty capitol of the world. Stay away.

Arkansas --- see latest bill regarding sex offenders not being able to go to parks with their families. Rednecks. Think "Deliverance."

Louisiana - Bobby Jindal, need I say more?

Florida -- enough said. You know about Florida.

Georgia --- where much of this SO nonsense began.

Mississippi --- redneck.

Tennessee and Kentucky -- Mississippi with mountains.

May have missed some in the Bible Belt, but not many.

Well as a fellow native Californian my opinions are a little biased.That being said-we all know how the state treats SO's in general-not good.....
in terms of your wife and her profession-no matter what all the other areas say- LA is where it happens but no one wants to live in LA or can afford to. IF I were you I would look into north of LA and maybe to the west-that's the beach side for affordable housing. (MORRO BAY area maybe)- Also-north of LA there is right off of I-5 there is Castaic Lake and Tejon .both within an hr drive to Hollywood even n the worst LA traffic
I had lived and went to college in Bakersfield-a high crime town and probably worse now but some areas arr nice and affordable..,I wish u luck! If u decide on an area let me know....had lived n central and northern CA for 35yrs

Sparky I too had the FL experience I know first hand FL treatment of RSOs. I moved to Massachusetts I find the system treats us much better much more human so there are better states than FL out there. MA has their own set of rules but I have been shocked about the difference. up hereFirst difference I remember down there it was always officer ___ here in Mass we are permitted to use the first name may be a small matter but it helps you to feel human

I forgot was human is to be honest. After 15 years of always registering, and abiding by the law, WAM!!!!!!!!! I get arrested last week with Sex offender failed to comply with law, That was jan 15th, and STILL dont know what I violated. My attorney sent in a not guilty plea and request for evidence, and so far we have received nothing. The only hope I have is that the deputy upon my release said it looks like you failed to Register In Aug 2012, luckily I have those papers, but with the state of florida anything is possible. Imagine being woken up from sleep, a police officer there with a warrant for my arrest, which says no bond, my wife freaking out, and them hauling me off to jail, only to find out 6 hours later there was a bond of $1000. Im still sick since that experience, cant eat, afraid of knocks at my door and afraid to be alone.
