I too am in WV and other than the fact it is a lifetime registry no matter the offense I have to admit its not too bad of a place to be. I just don't like winter weather and I feel they should have a tier level as well as an end to it if you are a low level offender. I don't like for possession of 1 picture to be in same class as someone who rapes and kills someone. But as far as the restrictions go there really isn't any

Thanks all. So how are job prospects? I like the idea if our west Portland OR Seattle. I am definitely up for living the south asap. Does anybody know any s.o. in those area or other support groups? I don't want to misstep.

In Texas there are some groups that meet monthly, I am not sure where all they meet though. I know one meets not far from me, but I haven't gotten involved with them just yet.

Job prospects by us depends. It depends on what your skills are and what your offense is, also where you reside. Our county honestly sucks for jobs, but if you aren't opposed to commuting about an hour there are better opportunities (the city is really bad for registrants.)

My fiance has a real hard time finding work because of his offense and skill set. Most of the guys in his therapy group have been gainfully employed at the same places for over a year.

MD puts everyone on the public list but other than that, it's not bad. It's a three tier system so at least not everyone's lifetime, there's no registry fee, no residency restrictions and the only presence restrictions is with
schools and day cares. My son has been out of jail now for 4 yrs and no one bothers him. We're in the Baltimore area.

There's a group that meets monthly on the lower eastern shore and there may be another one starting soon near the DC area.

My advice is that no one should be giving it. Support yes, advise no. Every single person has different circumstances and restrictions. You should contact experts. One is National Reform Sex Offender Laws, nationalrsol.org They may be able to direct you to someone who can answer your questions. I think Georgia has a chapter.
