just a curiosity question.
i don't know if i am an oddball or what? but i've never bothered to check the registry for any reason. i simply can not figure out just what the fascination is with the sex registry.
why do people read it? are any of them really and truly trying to learn and protect their kids? but even people without kids sometimes make a habit of checking and reading the registry. i've seen people post on FB that they check it every week, some have phone alerts that let them know if someone on the registry moves near them. why? what are they hoping for?
do they honestly think that they can memorize every sex offender on the registry that lives in a 300ml radius? even a 100ml radius? are they that freaking terrified of what or who is outside their door or in the vicinity?
it makes me think of the people who watch horror flicks. or those that slow down and rubber neck to check out an accident. they're hoping to see mangled bodies, blood and gore. they want to be horrified, gagged and grossed out so that they can tell everyone. is that all it is? a fascination with being horrified?

wasn't their a big hoopla or uproar about 10yrs or so ago that because of over crowding that they were letting a bunch of people out early, including murderers?
