Rather new to the sex offender rules and restricti

Hi,
All of this is unfamiliar territory to me. I met the sweetest guy a year ago and before we got serious by law he had to inform me he is a registered sex offender in the state of NJ. That didn't bother me too much, however all of the restrictions are new and somewhat confusing to me. We are at some point planning on marrying (I know many don't understand as I get judged by those who know of his offense.) His PO has met me, made sure I knew of his offense, and carded me (as I look young because I am under 5 foot) to make sure I was of legal age. Since my fiance has met me he has been mived to less supervision (three times a year.) He informed her of our plans to wed and now she won't stop saying " have you set a date? Remember you must tell me in advance you can't just go get married." This worries me has anyone else dealt with a situation like this? I've never read anything that said sex offenders can't get married. Sorry if I rambeled at all but any advise is appreciated.

Yes, if you already have kids and they are not the victims, the judge during sentencing typically talks about that arrangement. But when a RSO has kids after it's a little different situation. They certainly cannot stop you from procreating, that's a fundamental right. BUT they can say the child is not safe in your care and take the child.

I would definitely talk to his PO about it, talk to the local RSOL affiliate about it and see if they have any recommendations on lawyers who have dealt with these types of situations with children's services. If they don't, call the bar association in your state. It's worth the time to figure it out beforehand, even if you have to pay for an hour or two of a lawyers time to figure it all out.

He still has six more years then he can apply to the superior court (there is no guarantee they will release him)although I'm hoping they will since he only has one offense. His PO will be coming around this month and we are planning on talking to her but she can be tight lipped sometimes, and normally she only stays for a minute so it is hard to get a word in edgewise. Hopefully since he has his yearly drug test and she will be there for five minutes we can talk to her about everything. If not we won't see her again until February

That's a blessing, you don't want to see his PO more often than that lol. You can also have him call his PO first thing in the morning to ask questions. I had more success calling my PO like at 7:45-8am right when they got in.

Yeah I'm much happier because it used to be every mouth and my fiancé was always on edge. Now he's only on edge three times a year.
