Have you tried to talk to the PD and ask about his or her strategy in this case? Has she ever explained to you about the progress of this case?
Your husband has multiple counts against multiple victims. Most PDs are terribly overworked, so in a case such as this, they do their best to work out a favorable plea bargain with the DA.
Going to trial for sex offenses against a minor----especially with multiple counts and more than one victim----is a huge roll of the dice. This is how defendants wind up with 60 years. Sixty years at 85% is a tough sentence for anyone to serve.
She is probably not trying to build a defense for your husband as she has not intention of taking these charges to trial.
So, I am not sure there is much the PD can do except to negotiate your husband the best plea bargain possible.
I am not trying to be mean, but I am dealing with reality.
The fact that these situations exist is sad, but this is how our criminal justice system treats defendants.
Let me ask you? What do you want her to do? What are your expectations?

I have talked to her once or twice. The last thing she told me was that a private investigator would be contacting me because I have a statement written up for them, well this was probably a month ago. She has seen him once or twice and never really discussed what the plans were. What do I expect of her? I expect her to defend my husband as she would if it were someone she loved and cared about. I expect her to get off her butt and build a defense because it's her job. I have paid the $120 fee, it's not much but for us it is and the only option we have. I expect her to understand that he has two little boys that need him and miss him. I expect her to understand that my husband is a good man and doesn't belong behind bars. I expect her to understand that while this may be just another case for her my world is completely devastated. It pees me off that she isn't doing more.
