Thanks for all the replies. Most of the CO's are just doing their job, and son has told most of the guards will be fair as long as you follow the rules. But these 2 guards are like bullies on the playground. They know what they are doing is wrong because they don't it when there is another guard around. Some of the inmates filed complaints. So they took them off my sons block for a few weeks and now that they are back the ones that complained are really getting harassed.

Due to the fact I am a legal guardian of an inmate, I have sat in on disciplinary hearings for my ward and I am bewildered over how things are done and the mentality that inmates are guilty just because a prison guard accused them of doing something.

What I learned is that it is purely a "control" thing going on here, whereby to admit an inmate is innocent is to say they have rights, and that is simply not acceptable in prison. Many of the write up's my ward have gotten have been retaliatory and I have been successful in getting those thrown out.

Problem is, how can one teach an inmate to respect the rights of others; follow the rules, and obey the law when prison guards and others working in prisons are hypocrites????? It sends a double message and breads hate that is then taken out on society when the inmate is released because they learn that if you have power over someone its okay to victimize them.

Suffice to say, I have learned firsthand that all too often many of the problems rising in prisons are in fact the fault of those who work in prisons and their hypocritical ways and double messages given to inmates, as well as the ease in which they retaliate against inmates and get away with doing so. Out of all the prisons my ward has been in during the past four years, there is only one guard who has acted with any sort of decency towards him - but even that only goes so far because the guard is not going to put himself at risk with the other guards.
