he used to be so very laid back and to his detriment, way to easy going. not any more. his temper has undergone a major upheaval and he is now extremely quick to fire up! he is no where near as calm and patient as he use to be.
Think my dad has most of those things :(
When someone enlists in the army to go and fight a rich mans war and invade a sovereign country , so that we can take their natural resources and comes back with PTSD because they KNOW THEY MURDERED civilians that had nothing to do with the imaginary war on terror, that is pretty much a normal human reaction when the implications of your actions finally sink in. Family members of SO s on the other hand have had their lives ripped apart and destroyed. They have to watch their loved ones suffer an unimaginable fate , and there is nothing they can do to stop it . It is the stuff nightmares are made of. We suffer PTSD but no one cares or has even the slightest bit of sympathy. We did not voluntarily sign up for this, it was forced on us by our great nation.
And by the way..ISIS is a figment of our crazy governments imagination. Pray for the people of Syria, who will have unspeakable war crimes carried out against them, and they have done nothing to us. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER fight for this country, we are second only to Israel when it comes to evil
War can cause it, prison can cause it, and it certainly can be seen in registrants and the families of registrants.
Not knowing which law---which will no doubt be retroactive---- will be passed at the next legislative session that will adversely affect your life, not knowing when you will get violated for a minor infraction if you are on probation, and not knowing when a group of U S Marshalls will be on your front porch to do a "friendly" compliance check are all situations which cause PTSD.
We never know---but we wonder---when and if the neighbor down the block will learn of our status, or if they will even care. We dread seeing old friends because we don't know how they will react and it sometimes causes awkward situations. These little things all add up to a tremendous amount of stress on a registrant.
Because of this registrants and their families live in a state of semi-terror much of the time, which contributes to any PTSD type process.
Having been in prison, for the past 14 years I have had recurring dreams about once a week and the theme is always the same------I am somewhere, but I am not sure where, but I think it is a prison like setting. I keep telling people I should not be there and I keep looking for a way out. Nobody seems to listen and everyone seems far away at times. I never find a way out.
I am sure that is the result of my incarceration. Whether it is PTSD or not, I don't know, but the dreams are not very pleasant sometimes.
Registrants and their families can certainly have PTSD type symptoms. After all, they are in an emotional war zone much like a combat soldier is in a physical war zone.

Ptsd can effect anyone in any place.
It manifests in the last piece above with me.
"Being easily startled
•Feeling tense or “on edge”
•Having difficulty sleeping, and/or having angry outbursts.
Hyperarousal symptoms are usually constant, instead of being triggered by things that remind one of the traumatic event. They can make the person feel stressed and angry. These symptoms may make it hard to do daily tasks, such as sleeping, eating, or concentrating."
I always had a quick, but controlled, temper. All of this has made it worse. I believe PTSD magnifies parts of our personality already present.
The one thing not there is a basic mistrust of others. We all have that.
In another post I said something about being forced to live with constant thought of child abuse because to follow laws I'm reading story after story , ruling after ruling and law after law about sex offenses.
I mention feeling guilty for smiling at a gurgling baby - like somehow that mom knows the law labels me a monster.
But I'm not!! In fact I'm probably the least threatening on my block because I am so uber conscience in my actions and would never hurt anyone or put myself in a situation to be accused.
All of that with the feeling of being watched every second I would very much consider PTSD.
And it gets worse every day!!
And no decent physician would ever start anyone off on a 2mg dosage of Xanax. In my experience, they usually start off someone at 0.25 or 0.5 mg and possibly work up to a 1mg dosage if needed.
This doctor sounds like a pill doctor and I don't understand why he is allowed to prescribe in this manner.
Amy, you need to gradually----gradually----wean yourself off the Xanax. It takes a minimum of a couple of months to really see some progress in the withdrawal period.
The Xanax should not have been given on a long term basis. These drugs are not intended to be given every day for months and months.
You might have benefited from a SSRI antidepressant and a very low dose of Xanax.
