I know what you mean. They seem to have this psychological power over you. I actually went to the PO office for my BF's first visit and got a chance to talk to him. I was nice to him and he was nice to me, but he was a totally different person with my BF. That is why I know that they are human beings underneath it all. It is their job to be tough or act tough, but to everyone else they should be polite. I met him a 2nd time when he needed some paperwork from my BF, and it was close to my work, so I dropped it off. The receptionist actually told the PO I was out there, and he came out briefly. I asked him if this is what he needed and that he really did not have to come out since I was just dropping it off. He said this is what he needed and that he appreciated it. So, another ok experience. Still, my heart was pounding through my chest, and I know I started perspiring. I kept my cool, though and took a few big breaths...that helped.

Don't let these POs fool you. Even if they treat you nice at times, they can still be ruthless and revoke someone in the twinkling of an eye----and not feel the least bit bad about it.

Now, just as I am sure there are decent POs, just as there are decent SOs, inmates, and cops, but POs can be like a rattlesnake hiding in the grass. You can never really trust them, so be very careful what you say around them.

They remind me of the "good cop, bad cop" situation in that they will sometimes play the good cop role to get information or something, but then turn into the bad cop.

You can never be too careful around them.

The PO isn't nice to me anymore.. not after he found out I hired a lawyer. And he'll be even less nice when the judge here comes back and says my son doesn't have to take treatment.

But I'd rather he was nasty now than later. He's very condescending. And that I'm a small old lady I'm sure he doesn't like me being anything but less than he is.

I guess, you are right Rew. I won't ever let my guard down or disclose any unneeded information. I don't trust people that easily, but I usually am a pretty good judge of character. Still, I will not take the nicety as anything more than it is. I will be polite because that is my nature, but I won't go to any extremes here.

I now know why he was nasty on the phone yesterday.. and waiting for his condescending attitude when he comes out today. I'm going to try to take an adult approach and not cower in the corner as he 6'4" frame hovers over my 4'10"..
Our lawyer sent out the petition to the court for my son's SO treatment and a copy went to the probation office, I'm sure he had to do it that way. At least he didn't just call him.

The PO knows my son needs to take treatment. and now he's really pissed because the judge says he doesn't but the PO reads what it clearly states in his release papers another way. We're not going to back down.

My son has done nothing to violate his probation. We'll see what the day brings.

Wow Nako; I didn't know you're a fellow "little person" :-) We were discussing your families situation at visiting the other night. My LO is happy to hear of you. Someday I hope to be able to hold my ground as well as you do. We are sending you good Karma today to help w/ the visit!

Well, the PO called and he's not coming out today. But he called my phone # and said to have my son come in next Tuesday at 9am and he'll tell him all about it.

So he has an agenda. My son is now worried, but he knew this would piss off his PO.

My son IS going to treatment, so my son is not violating his probation. It's all about control and making people afraid.

Nako, I have dealt with POs already. They are ruthless!!!! I had made a remark about something and the PO turned my words all the way around!! It was nothing but saying something about church and my son's therapist and the PO tried to make it sound like I was best friends with the therapist, which I wasn't and had only spoken with the therapist to help get my son to see her. Just be careful what you and your son says. My son winded up having his probation revoked and is now in prison. I am not trying to scare you but they are the ENEMIES!!!

OMG! Heartbroken, how could THAT have violated your son…just a comment. How long is he going to be there?
