Am I reading the law right and only child offenders registered under Megan laws will have mark placed.. or... is it any offender on any state registry for any offence... When does this start.

FYI UPDATE: been a long time since posting but life is better and he is being allowed to move home next month with our son... Treatment will end in 6 months and the PO is optimistic that at the end of 5 years he might get off the list and PO

if i recall its every offender that has a passport no mater the crime

The law states that if the offense was against a child (even Romeo & Juliet cases, or CP possession), the govt will place an identifier on the passport. An identifier hasn't been determined yet, not where the stamp will be placed, BUT, th govt IS notifying countries about every SO's travel arrangements. Some countries won't allow am SO in, even if the crime isn't a crime there, but some countries just laugh at the US, and don't do anything with the information.

I find it sad that the government does not want sex offenders close to schools, close to children, or to have a job and be able to pursue happiness, yet they do not want us to leave the country either.

They do not want sex offenders to even breathe the same air that everyone else does, but they do not want to be rid of us.

Many sex offenders have served their court mandated sentence and are trying to get on with their lives, taking care of their family and attempting to survive. Yet the government will not allow it.

At some point, you have to think, "What does the government want from the offenders who are remorseful and just trying to fit back into society. What do former offenders have to do to live a normal life?? What does the government expect from us??

Is it ever enough?? Is the punishment to be some type of perpetual virtual flogging of the offenders??

The offenders cannot go back and undo the crime or change what happened. All they can do is move forward. Why does this country refuse to allow them to do that??

Are we so eaten up with pure hatred in this country that we have to enact all these laws to further terrorize registrants?

What happened to the America of second chances???
