Well done Terry Crews for speaking up! My husbands been addicted to pornography for many years. It landed him in the position he is now. He's lost almost everything, an article he was given stated that the withdrawal symptoms of pornography addiction are similar to that of a meth amphetamine addict. Any type of sex addiction is a tricky thing to overcome as it is everywhere. Innuendo is in everything, sex is how we are created.

Talking publicly about his porn addiction took a lot of courage on his part, especially with the negative attitudes some people have toward pornography.

With the advent of the internet, porn addictions are quite common; there are many, many more men addicted to porn who are either too ashamed to come forward or are in denial.

Many of the CP convictions are caused by a porn addiction out of control. Guys get addicted to porn, but after a while they find that the vanilla porn just does not give them the same thrill anymore. They then graduate to more radical forms of pornography such as BDSM porn, the animal porn---bestiality----and then on to CP.

Many guys do not view CP because they want to have sex with children any more than viewing animal porn because they want to have sex with a dog. They just like porn, the act itself.

Porn addictions are a real problem in this country. Locking someone up in prison for five or so years because they had a porn addiction out of control is NOT the answer. Just like the War on Drugs, we are not going to be able to arrest our way out of this problem.

I imagine he would not be so public if it was child pornography that he was viewing? I think most people can wrap their heads around viewing adult porn since these are consenting individuals involved in the production, I would hope. Will a well-known celebrity ever come clean about their child porn addiction? Well, I don't see that happening any time soon. But I guess starting with adult porn and explaining addiction and how it can spiral out of control is a good first step.

Very good points regarding this topic. Like Rew said, the CP addiction does not mean they want to have sex with children, just like those who watch violent movies or play violent video games will not end up shooting someone. They just like the thrill. I never understood that watching something can get you in so much trouble when there is no threat of acting up on it. There are so many teenagers and adults who play killing and shooting videos. I don't see them on a no fly list for fear of terrorism. One problem is the lack of sex education. Sex is everywhere, yet it seem to be taboo? We should be way more open about sexuality, and maybe that would help curb the "appetite"? The people who make CP videos should be the ones targeted as they are the ones abusing the children. Animals are innocent, too, and still it is not illegal to watch animal porn? I am not condoning CP in any way shape or form, but those who watch it are the last ones to be worried about, in my opinion. Shut this operation down all together and try to get to those responsible, not the ones caught in an addiction. I believe that more education and more liberal views on this topic would help this country tremendously.
