I read the bill. This same bill or a derivation of this bill has been introduced several times previously and it never passes. I think I read somewhere that Florida and California are two states that already have legislation similar to this.
I found the author of the bill's biography and he is a staunch Christian with Christian values so this fits right in the with Bible Belt mentality of this state. Nothing wrong with being a Christian, but the folks in this state---and many of the other Bible Belt states----carry this to extremes.
Bills like this just fit in with the mentality of this state. I doubt that it will pass, but who knows?

This has to be against the 8th amendment, cruel and unusual punishment clause, I don't understand how it could not be. Letting people out early is almost a de facto inducement of it by the state. Very similar to how you can go to trial now but if you do you will be punished for it, so take the plea.
