So my husband will be sentenced next month and will likely get a year and lifetime probation. My question is will it be difficult or him to move to a different county? I would think not too hard since he's staying within the same state but I just want to be sure. We're looking into buying some land that is about 4 hours away. It would be a dream i he could move there with us once he got cleared to be around our children.
Keep in mind the registry requirements, which usually dictate that you notify the county you are moving from and the county you are moving to in "x" amount of days. In my state that is three days but it will vary from state to state.
Also keep in mind if he is on any kind of paper time (probations, suspended sentence, parole) he will have to get permission from his PO before making the move.
You are extremely wise and fortunate to be able to buy your own land. I bought eight acres and moved out of the city limits and away from everybody and have never regretted it. Having your own land usually solves the residency problem that so many sex offenders have to deal with.
Also, I am so happy for you and your family that this situation has turned out probably as well as it could. Hopefully, you, your husband, and your family can put this entire episode behind you like a bad dream.
